Light value on river?

    Default Light value on river?

Just won a big pot vs villain. He has taggy stats.

Turn was a missed c/rai. I felt he would bet with air or missed draws or even a Q or T if I checked river. Then the plan was to RR and get more value from a good Q. Whereas by betting I get called by a T or Q usually.

But is there any value in raising this particular river (8c). What if it was a blank?

    Hero checks, [color:red]BTN bets $150.00[/color], [color:red]Hero?? raise/call?

Just call? If it was a 2s you also call?

I just don't see anything you beat calling a raise on the river without trying to make a hero call and I'd hate to get raised of the hand. If the river is 2s that doesn't change much.

You're way behind his calling range here if you raise.

You are playing stakes WAY higher than I am , and most of us, Alexos. Why do you expect a raise to be for thin value?

When you're saying raise, how much are you hoping to raise to?

I mean, on a blank river, I can see a check donkish minraise getting called by a lot of hands that you beat (a lot of J's). But is it really worth re-opening the betting in this spot, with so much money behind, to only gain the value of a min raise?

It really depends on if you think this villain is capable of pushing over a raise like that with a worse hand than yours. If he's capable of that, then I don't think its worth it, for the times you'll be forced to fold

So yah I can see a minraise getting called sometimes, but I don't think its good on this particular river card at all.

The only reason I thought there was value is because I checked turn, and check again river so I didnt show much strength, and a reraise on river would look somewhat bluffy and get looked up by something we beat.

But it should be a fairly straightforward call by the way I played it. Thx for the replies.

I don't understand this LOL, unless maybe you're laughing at his language. I guess we usually say "he only calls with hands that beat you."

Or was his point that terrible? If you're you're laughing at the actual poker concept, I'm interested in your rebuttal.

Ok great one, tell me what looks up a raise here especially a c/r.

Why are you checking the turn? C/r has way less value then a bet and if u bet you at least have a chance to get away from the hand.

As played I really like a c/r all in on the river, and congrats on 5/10.

I think a c/r all in on river is pretty horrible with the 8c there. Like I said it completes pretty much any two pair draws, etc.

Dude but why would I ever want to get away from the hand on the turn....I still like c/rAI on turn

You're going to get exploited if you dont bet in this spot.

if you have seen villain consitently value-bet light in position then this river is a great spot for a c/r (esp if you're a cpl levels deep)

but as a "standard" way of playing the hand either value-betting or c/c seem good
