Default Hypothetical question re calling a 4-bet shove

    Situation:

100NL short handed, $100 effective stacks.
You pick up a strong hand in the SB. It folds round to the button who raises to $4. You raise to $15, BB folds, button shoves.

Villain is a generally solid 25/15, but you haven't seen him do this often enough to put him on a precise range. There is no recent history which might make you think he is 4-betting light.

What are your minimum hands to call?

I don't think this of an unknown, so I give him credit and only call with KK/AA.

What makes you guys think his range is weighted towards AK/AQ? Imo, very few solid players at 100nl stack off with AQ, even AK, usually its AA/KK/QQ imo.

Im not quite sure about calling here with AK. At this level very few stack off with AK imo. This is against an unknown who seems solid and we have no reason to believe he is 4betting light. The large majority stack off with AA/KK/QQ/some even jj imo. While i know its standard to stack off with AK at most higher levels, I don't think its standard to stack off with AK at this level vs an unknown 4bet shoving, is it?

Anyway, i call with AA/KK probably QQ as well.

If i've been 3-betting like a monkey i may call with JJ and TT too.

With no history though... probably AA/KK. With QQ/AK, this situation is very marginal and i'd have to weigh all the info i have on the opponent to make a decision.

Thought this might get a few differrent answers. The reason I asked is because I am trying to work out some EV calcs where I am the button shover and the small blind is a solid tag and wanted to know what decent players would call me with.

My first guess was that AA/KK is 100% with 50% AK/QQ and not much else. From the range of answers I reckon on adjusting it to maybe 65% with QQ and 50% with AK? (maybe 10% JJ to keep Bode-ist happy )

    AA/KK

If Ive really been 3betting like a monkey then maybe AK/QQ aswell but in my experience this usually ends badly.
gabe: Ive dropped almost 100k in the past 35 days.

bigspenda73: But how much did you win?
