Default operation WCOOP: win 100 satellites

I haven't been winning enough money this summer. This needs to change. The WCOOP satellites are very soft and my goal is to win 100 of them before the start of the WCOOP on September 14, including 50 during August, when I'll probably make a month-long prop bet with a 2+2er who plays even more satellites than I do.

I have a big edge in satellites and it comes from the fact that I've done much more thinking about pre-flop shoving and calling ranges than almost any of my opponents. Every day, I see players, winning players even, over-play big pairs and AK on the bubble when they could've sat back and just folded their way into a seat. Or else they fold too much and get blinded down when they should've been shoving and stealing blinds. I believe I play the bubble almost perfectly. If I feel that I misplayed a bubble hand, I'll post it in here, and if I think I played a hand correctly that most players would've misplayed then I'll post it in here too. But mainly I just want to motivate myself to play a lot, win a lot, and make monies.

Are you going to actually play any of the tourneys you win entry to?

I won't play very many events but I may play these.

    WCOOP-1: $215 NLHE [6-max], $400K guaranteed
    WCOOP-4: $215 2-7 Triple Draw, $100K guaranteed
    WCOOP-11: $215 Razz, $100K guaranteed
    WCOOP-17: $320 NLHE [6-max], $400K guaranteed

I'm playing #1 for sure, there's a good chance I'll play #4 and #17, and I probably won't play #11 unless I improve my razz game drastically in the near future. Mostly my goal is to amass several thousand dollars worth of W$ and sell it right before the WCOOP starts.
  6. #6
    how's it going?
  7. #7
When I started this challenge I thought the WCOOP satellites would run a lot more often than they do, sort of like the Sunday Million satellites which run around the clock. So this is obviously not going to happen but I'll just see how many I can take down.

Man, people really played horrendously today. I feel like I should have won more than 3 seats but I'm still pretty happy with the 1K I made today (despite bubbling two final tables).

Here's the final hand of one of the satellites I won, it paid 6 people. I would have, um, played it a little differently.

I want to buy a nice mountain bike and a couple weeks ago I set myself the goal that I could buy it when I made another 5K. I've made about 3K since then so I should get it soon unless I run bad. The bike I want costs about $1200. Here's a picture of it.

I won two donkaments this weekend for 3500 and 2100, my two biggest scores to date. This week I'm probably buying the bicycle that I've had my eye on for awhile.

Tonight I won a $530 seat and this was the last hand. I usually don't get emotional about bad beats that I take or put on someone else but I honestly felt really awful for this guy.

Seems you're doing really well considering the number of these tourneys that run.

I've wanted to enter a few recently but they just don't run as often as they need.

Is the competition generally made up of small stakes players taking shots, because I've found this to be true of the sunday million sats I play?
  12. #12
I've spent a lot of money on buy-ins though, so I'm only up about $1000 for the challenge.

And yes the players in these satellites are pretty weak, but probably not quite as weak as in the Sunday Million satellites. Especially in the sats to the higher-buyin events. At the $530 sat final table last night I felt like I was the 3rd best player at the final table which is very rare for me in these things.

the sucky thing about doing wcoop satellites is they dont run frequently enough. It's like one every 15 minutes.
    Check out the new blog!!!

Yeah, tell me about it. Especially since my roll is now big enough that anything with a buy-in of less than like $40 is really a waste of time for me and I only play it if I don't have enough tables open.

School started so I doubt I'll play much from here on out, and I'm already starting to sell my W$. I'll be happy to get to 20.

Here's a hand where I just wasn't sure what to do. 8 people were left, 6 seats, and the other table had 3 people each with about 3K chips and one enormous stack. The raiser was pretty tight so I didn't want to get into a confrontation with him even though I have a monster hand. Then on 2nd draw I fold (?) because the chips I stand to win aren't nearly as valuable as the ones I stand to gain.

I ended up bubbling FWIW and even though a couple of races had to not go my way, I'm still second-guessing this hand. If anyone reads this thread, comments?
