Default Starting a 10,000 hand session NOW! 10/10

Im going to try and play 10K hands today, 12 tabling 100NL full ring. Im hoping to run at at least 2 ptbb/100 but that is a secondary goal. I just want to get in the hands as long as I can continue to play relatively well the entire time regardless of how I run.

Ive been on a downsing for the last week or so, but I just finished reading NL holdem, theory and practice and am ready to play some solid poker.

This is the first time Ive tried playing such a long session so I will allow myself a couple breaks for lunch and or workout.

I will try to post hand histories and results as I go. GL to me.

That's going to take about 15 hours. To what do you attribute the downswing? If it is a leak in your game, I don't think marathon 12-table sessions are the answer. If it's variance, I can understand why you want to ride it out through alot of hands, but I imagine your play will suffer tremendously after 8 or so hours.

I playd about 75,000 hands of 100NL and ran about 5.5 ptbb/100 last month. This month has only been about 20K hands so far and Im going through some gross variance. Mainly KK running into AA in situations that its impossible to fold, (ie. against loose donks who wake up with AA, button vs blinds, and lots of dead money pots) Also a couple set over sets in raised pots. I may have spewed a couple buyins being overly aggro/tilt this month though.

If Im playing to badly, I will quit but Im going to try my best to make it through. Ill keep posting hands. If things start to look gross, I hope Ill be able to notice my play deteriorating but if I cant, hopefully some FTRs' will let me know here.

I got 15 hours in me

PS. Im very close to making Supernova and may get it during this session also.

That last hand with AQs is a bit meh - I don't know how often he is folding having put half his stack in, and your ace is probably not live.

I like the 34s hand though - I don't do stuff like this enough.

Fun stuff -- I really enjoy reading your posts. But seriously how do you 12-table and have time to post your hands here?

Now I really think I should try this (play 10k hands in 1 session w/ live updates) some time soon

BTW I notice you got outdrawn a lot
I also notice your playing so much like mine

Good luck the rest of the way

I lost about 115 hands and about $75 worth of profit on my pokertracker stats because of a database error. So when I post my total stats at the end, they will be slightly skewed.

    Anyway, Im back at it.

    On the AK hand...

C/R because I know original raiser will cbet with a wide range and I thought I could trap a bet from the guy behind him.

I represented a set or at least two pair on the flop and he still called. AK is at the bottom of my c/r ing range. I believe this player checks behind with a draw on the turn. Yet it looks like he is still ready to get it AI by the river. I dont want to play for stax with one pair against him.

If he bluffed me, than nh sir. Ill keep getting it in against these donks instead.....

thats sweeeeet. i cannot for the life of me understand 12-tabling for 12.4 hours, all the while posting HHs here.

and i dont even think you were playing rockish for 12 tables. yeah, rocky as hell for 4 tables, but you had 12 going.

    nh, sir.
LHE is a game where your skill keeps you breakeven until you hit your rush of random BS.

Nothing beats flopping quads while dropping a duece!

15/7 to me is rockish. Try getting the pfr up to +10. For realz, limping A9s on the button after 2 limpers is weak sauce. Same for limping on the button with 97s after one limper. Tear it up. Good job though.
  56. #56
I dont mind limping into lots of pots, especially with weak competition. I feel like there are much bigger edges to exploit postflop against players like I was playing last night. Why raise and cbet when the guy is gonna call with bottom pair when I miss. I like to get in cheap, flop top pair, and then make big bets that are called by bottom pair (or worse).

That A9s hand is an excellent example of this. Why do I want to knock a player like this out preflop when I have a weak hand that has potential multi-way.

I agree with you in more aggressive, tougher games, but I dont think that is the best way to play against these guys. Appreciate the input though.
  57. #57
Read these, it's for 6-max but it applies to full ring as well and it will really help your game.

I agree with some of what you said in that some players may call you down no matter what but you should be able to identify these players and isolate the other ones. Also even when you decide to raise against these players you don't have to c-bet if you know they're calling. Wait for a flop and value bet the shit out of them.

re: your A9 hand. If he's bad enough to stack off like that he's not folding KQ to a raise preflop and you're benefiting from that.

from the first link and really words to live by...:
"When you are on the button and CO, consider yourself the gatekeeper. It is up to YOU to decide whether or not people get to enter a pot cheaply or not. And hell, why let them play out of position hands for cheap? Abuse the [censored] out of the button and CO. "

That A9s hand is an excellent example of this. Why do I want to knock a player like this out preflop when I have a weak hand that has potential multi-way.

I agree with you in more aggressive, tougher games, but I dont think that is the best way to play against these guys. Appreciate the input though.
I think we play the same style PF because we get advices from the same book.

I also get a lot of heat on another forum for running passive preflop, like 20/8. Your comments pretty much summarize why I do so. I love limping behind in position.

I also play extra loose on the button -- like 27 VPIP. To me, abusing the CO/button means playing crap, even if I have to call a mild raise. Or even open-limping. I do so because I have position.

Say I raise a limper w/ 97s in LP and steal the blinds. Not bad. But I don't get to enjoy the luxury of playing postflop in position with a good multiway hand.

Or you subject yourself to reversed implied odds when somebody calls PF, and then calls your c-bet after you totally miss?

Big money is to be made postflop. Against bad competition, implied odds are king, so why reduce it by making a PF raise?

    My 2-cents.

Mine is about the same but I raise a ton of hands to like 22+/46s+/45s+/T7s+/Kxs/Axs/any broadways. Tons of hands and it leads to tons of profit. It is also good for image which seemingly nobody takes into account.

To me abusing position means punishing weak players for limping with weak holdings almost regardless of my holdings because you're going to win lots and lots of money when people limp/call and c/f and then you make hands nobody would ever suspect and pay you off, then they pay off your EP raises when you have AA because you play so aggro.

Ill try mixing in some more raises in position into my standard play. Ill keep experimenting.

Havent people figured out that they can reraise you all day from the blinds and pick up the pot uncontested almost every time??

I do this to some button raisers from the blinds. But I've never had anybody do this while there are limpers to me. If people figured this out I think i'd have maybe 1/2 my wr.

ps: when I move up next month don't rr me. i'll have the chargers avatar

It's not that difficult to adjust to people who play this way...

A-fucking-men. There is such an ingrained POSITIONAL AGGRESSION OR DEATH mentality on FTR that this point is almost entirely submerged.
