need mic help

I'm having a problem guys. I have a dell laptop I play poker on and it has an internal built in mic that sucks. I use a headset instead. The problem is that when I use my headset, it cuts out after 10 seconds of talking. I have a feeling it's my internal mic/sound card messing with it somehow. Any thoughts?

I don't know what the audio mic device is either. My best guess is the sigmatel audio codec. No idea if any of this makes sense but I'm just throwing random information out there.

I tweaked some settings in vent that worked in test mode. I just need to test it when someone finally joins vent. If that doesn't work I'll try this, thanks old fellar.
