Default 5/10. 170BB deep HU river shove.

We have played 150 hands so far in the session. I'm up $680 and villain seems good, but has not won a single bet from me postflop. Not one. Every pot where I have put in money postflop I have taken down, but it didn't feel like villain was getting frustrated still. I've been playing 38/30/2.7 and I haven't shown down a single bluff, although I've been bluffing several times. Villain has been bluffing twice, and got caught both times. My image is still totally spotless.

I called a cbet and checked down KQ on a 2K445 board, intending to check raise river, but it was checked down. I think I got a slightly trappy image from that (or nitty if he thinks I wanted to check it down).

Villain is playing aggro 31/29/16.4 for the session so far, and he likes to bet/raise himself, but he is usually folding to my bets/raises. I'm actually not quite sure I'm beat here, but I called his river bet with ace high a couple of hands back (he had K high) and I don't want to be owned here by A9. My hand could easily be 57s or 33, but also A3/A4/A6/AA or a slowplayed flopped set (slowplaying against superaggro even on a drawy board is certainly a decent option).

Seat 4: VILLAIN ($3,210.10 in chips)
    Seat 9: HERO [ KH,JH ] ($1,680.75 in chips)
    ANTES/BLINDS
HERO posts blind ($5), VILLAIN posts blind ($10).

    PRE-FLOP
HERO bets $30, VILLAIN bets $110, HERO calls $85.

    FLOP [board cards 6H,KC,4C ] pot ($240)
VILLAIN bets $170, HERO calls $170.

    TURN [board cards 6H,KC,4C,AD ] pot ($580)
    VILLAIN checks, HERO checks.

    RIVER [board cards 6H,KC,4C,AD,3S ] pot ($580)
VILLAIN bets $400, HERO bets $1,390.75 and is all-in...

Is villain's line too obviously a bluff to be a bluff?

if you showed me this hand up until your river action i wouldn't ever ever ever think of shoving.

Well I really didn't think of shoving until he bet either. It just felt obvious that he has an ace here and that he should value bet it against my king. I don't think he is ever calling here without at least two pair and I really don't think he should either.

I'm usually trying to give a very solid image while at the same time bluffing as much as I can. When I get caught the first time I usually flip the switch and start value betting instead.

Thanks Gabe. I posted this because villain did fold (after long thinktank), but then I started to think that perhaps I made a pretty unnecessary (stupid) play at him. I was owning him for the whole session and afterwards I felt pretty lucky that I got away with this. He left the table after about 50 more hands, not having won a single pot with any kind of postflop action.

i rly hate villain's betsizing in the hand. with ur image this seems like an awesome play. this is my favorite hand ive seen in months will comment more later.

    strong drink.

the most difficult part of this hand to make raising>calling is if
    a) he will fold Ax
    b) will he (maybe?) fold some 2pair combos
    c) how often he shows up with Ax and not a bluff here

its so hard to tell without seeing every hand in the match- from a theoretical perspective this doesn't "look" like a great raise, but at the same time given the dynamics and betsizing and timing and stuff it could easily be a great play, specially with a tight image.

    sweet hand tho

Wow really really weird hand. I feel like opp very well can be vbetting worse, however not enough of the time to warrant a call, and it's really odd to see a bluff here, you think you'd see it on the turn.
What i like about the shove is hes going to have to put you on a made hand turned into a bluff if he wants to call, putting you on clubs would be weird because thats raising the flop a lot. He's going to have a marginal hand here a lot, and its just going to take a lot of guts to call when you are repping a lot of stronger hands, albeit really not very many.

The main reason i think a shove is sick isn't really for any poker logical reason. It's simply because most of his range is one pair, and he'd going to have to make a big call where he is clearly going to be losing a fair amount when he does.

    Good points sauce and ISF.

With a worse image, this obviously turns into a great value shove spot with 33/57 and even with crap like Ac3c.
