desire to move up in stakes

Is it wrong that I feel virtually no desire to move up in stakes at the moment? I am currently playing 100NL/PL, and am doing alright. I am a winning player after >50,000 hands at these stakes, which is about 5-6 months of poker for me.

Everybody else seems to be moving up in limits really fast, and is always striving to play higher. I don't have that feeling. I don't really have any desire to play 200 regularly any time soon. I have sat down at a 200 table a few times, and didn't really think too much of it, but it is not where I want to play at the moment.

I might be stunting my growth, both of my ability and my bankroll, but I am just really comfortable with my current stakes.

I am a little worried that I will stay at the same stakes for too long. I am overrolled for my current stakes. I am technically rolled for 200NL, though I usually like more than 30BI's, and after a cashout I don't have that.

Don't really know what type of response I am looking for here, if any. I am really just sort of putting this out there/getting it off my chest.

I can see your point, you're basically saying " why should I ruin a good thing" well, not necessarily ruin, but leave a good thing. To be honest no one should be saying what you can/should be playing but you. You gotta do what you're comfortable with.

If you're worried about never moving up there is nothing wrong with setting up 1 table with 200NL and the rest with 100nl and just add more 200nl tables when you feel the need to.

I'm sticking at 1/2 for a long time, I think. Mainly because I rape it. I would make more at 2/4, but only a little bit, and my stress would increase a bit.

I don't know if you feel the same as me but before I quit a year ago I was rolled for 200NL but continued to play at 100NL. I really felt I wasn't good enough for 200NL and wanted to improve my game some more before moving up and I was happy with the money I was making at 100NL. I feel there is nothing wrong with staying at 100NL. If, at sometime later, you feel the bug to move up then you can do so at any time.

I've been rolled for 200nl for quite a while but I'm waiting until I beat 100nl for at least 3 ptbb/100 over 100k straight hands before I move up.

I feel the same, I just hope I'm also raping at your pace. I stayed at 100NL for about 5-6 months and did not have the desire to move up because I was making good coin where I was. Also, I didn't feel very comfortable loosing $400 in one hand (not that I am today). Just don't force anything. Move up when you feel comfortable. No one is judging you one way or another, only yourself.

i plan to spend a long time at 100nl once i get there (I've got just under 20 buyins for that level, but have yet to move to 50nl!). Sounds like there is no reason to hurry beyond 100nl if it doesn't feel right

I would totally stay at a level I was raping, if moving up for stress and swings is not worth the extra $/hr.

What that means is take a shot at least. Maybe you beat 200NL for 3bb/100 and you beat 100NL for 4bb/100. Who wouldn't make that jump? If they're similar, or you feel like you're being outplayed, then don't switch.

Pulling numbers out of my ass. If you're withdrawing every week, why not take that money one week a month and test the higher limit?

My advice would be to keep moving up until 1/2 and stop there. 1/2 is really soft and really well spread.

edit: 1/2 is also where the rake REALLY begins to curtail.

why stop there though, if your hrly rate is higher at 2/4?

the vast vast majority of players beating 1/2 would lose at 2/4 imo.

Yeah, 2/4 is harder than it looks. Way bigger jump from 1/2 to 2/4 than .50/1 to 1/2. If you're not good at multibet bluffing and catching the same you will not survive.
