Default Never ever tilt! Take a brake when ur red in tha face!

My story: Started playing poker (barely knew the rules before) in October 06. Deposited appx. 35$ at unibet, lost all, deposited 35$ again(why 35? -> it was the minimum amount allowed depositing) after getting some good hints from Larsmars and equal importantly starting reading FTR!

Started out playin 00.2-00.5 pot limit, managed to make some profit, went over to playing 00.5-0.10 no limit, still Unibet. By new year 07 i had about 600 $ and witdhrew it all, depositing 500 at betonbet, making a shoot for the 100% bonus. I also got my first Rakeback-deal claiming 30%.

The bonus had to be cleared within 2 months, by mid-march i still needed some points to reach the bonus (it was all or nothing-bonus ), luckily i got my period extended 1 month so i reached the mark and made the bonus. During all my stay at betonbet I was mainly playing 25$ NL. By mid march I had an BR of about 2K++ (500 depositing, 500 bonus, 200 rakeback, 3-500 earnings).

Once again I withdraw all, depositing 500 $ at Bet365.com (yes, I do like Prima network ). Then I went over the same procedure, claiming the 500 $ bonus. Along with some earnings and rakeback I was up at 2.500$, but this time within a span of just 5-6 weeks (I played more hours in march and april than before, also playing more tables 4 to 6, and taking more shots at 50 NL).

    24. May i withdraw most of the cash from Bet365.com, depositing at Ladbrokes 500$. Since then I have been running really well. Starting at 0.15-0.30 $, now at 50$NL. My BR as i write this is 4800 $. I have been checking the PT for my play at Ladbrokes and it says 10/100 BB appx. But I have had very good cards the last month, showing a profit even out of the blinds... so I am waiting for the setback

This was long (and probably booooring), Why am I writing this?
Not quite sure, maybe get some perspective, maybe have an OP-post where I can post my goals and hands in my attempt to get better.
My goal so far is becoming a regular at 100 NL, I am thinking making a try when my BR reach 5000$ (if it does ).
Still I know I am still a newb, still playing scared money at 100 $-tables, and still making loooaaaddds of errors, but hopefully I am learning.

    Wish me good luck

I have played some hours during this weekend, mainly 9-tabling 50 NL, but also taking some shots at 100NL (as promised when I reached the 5K-mark). My nice run seems to continue. I made a couple of buy-ins at the 100 tables, and along with the grinding at 50 NL (nitty me my BR is 5465$ atm . Quite good for a weekend which included working night (from friday 5 pm to saturday 10 am), and a barbeque-party at saturday night.

Still to coward to play at 100NL; I am currently spending my "holiday" (do have a summerjob) at my parent's house, therefore playing at their computer (no wireless lan). I have no PT installed at that computer so I don't have numbers on the players I play against...just my general opinion on them (which quite often is wrong...). I feel a bit lost without the PT, hence still playing 50NL, though taking some shots at 100 if I find a table with a well known fish, high flop percent etc. I guess the easiest solution is simply to buy a new version of PT.......... still I feel comfortable at 50NL and the roll is still going the right way, now at 5925$... Am I a newb for not moving up????

just slowly mix in $100nl tables until you are fully transitioned. I know everyone has their own comfort zone, but if this isnt your primary income, 50+ buyins is PLENTY. You obviously are beating the game soundly right now at $50nl and the games are virtually the same.

    Move up.

Email pokertracker, explain you are using a different computer for the summer and they'll give you a new activation key.

    Default Short update

Just a short update. Have been trying to get into the NL100 games, still with mixed success. But have been running quite good at NL50, and I also had plenty of luck in a 200NL last night making 400$ in short time (1 set vs KK and 1 nutflush). My BR as I write is 8200$, new record for me.

I'll write more later as I'm off to work now.

wow, $3700 in 19 days @ mainly NL50?? I read that you seem to be a break even/slightly winning/slightly losing player in your attempts at NL100, so most of that profit is from NL50 correct??

Actually it is 3400 (July 5th BR: 4.8K, now 8.2 K) , but yes, most of it comes from 50NL. (maybe a few hundred from 100NL (5-600??), and 400 from last nights luckboxing at 400NL!).

Short update. Played not too much the last weeks, still running quite hot. BR is now 10.697 $. I am now withdrawing down to 5 K, still enough to play at 100NL. I'm buying a new PC for some of the money.

    ...but more importantly:
won the Norwegian top 40 VIP customer tournament at Ladbrokes for june/july! 1.st price was a sportstrip worth 20.000 NorwegianKroner (that is about 3.5 K $). Sweet!! Premier League here i come! LOL

    Long time since last post.
    I have now:
I have alltogether withdrawn 7.5K (bought new laptop-> Acer720, and a bicycle->crap with two wheels, the rest of the money is saved or gone drinking beer.
    Bankroll now is 6.432$.

I have now moved to 100NL, almost playing this stake exclusively, 6-9 tabling. I have installed PT on my new laptop (thanks for the tip DemonDaze!). How do I get PT-results copied over to this blog??
I am currently running 3-4PTBB/100 at 100 NL.
I'll try to become more active and post hands in the shorthanded forum.

Here are my biggest loss and biggest win from yesterday's session. U guess which whichs!

Ok, looooong time since last post. Still playing 100NL only. Sepbetember, october and november have been rocky, though it has gotten a lot better the last couple of weeks, I have withdrawn some of my winnings along with RB so my current BR is 7150$. Since mid-August when I bought a new laptop I am running 2,96pt/BB at 100NL, over about 95K hands. I am 9-tabling about 2 hours each day. I don't table select much so this is a spot where I can get a lot better.

I will have a couple of exams coming up in december, but i will try to keep up with 2 h/day and hopefully get to play lots during christmas (I think christmas is a good time to go fishing!).

So why did I decide to write in my blog today? I will set myself new goals for the next couple of months:

-I will take shots at 200NL soon.
    -Starting out playing 4-6 tables.
-Table select good (patience, patience, patience!!)
-Try to avoid tilt/spewing too much.
-...and when not playing 200 continuing grinding 100, trying to maintain a ptBB/100 > 3.

Ok, tried 200NL today. Tableselected and the action was really quite soft. Ran into some coolers though:

This guy is a complete donk. He ran 84/27/1/123 today.

Lost about 2 buy-ins at 200NL yesterday and 1 buy-in at 100NL. Br 7936$. Did not play good and also had two ugly setups which didn't help either: FH>FH and Aces cracked vs set.

Ok, have been to lazy/stupid to not post in a while. Since my post in november i have had a good run during december and mainly christmas, playing mostly 100NL. I ended up about 3000$+ only for the christmas-days and also got about 1,2K in rakeback primo January. In addition i got a seat in some freerolls going on this weekend for the player points (3 plasmascreens+cash tonight, rolex+cash tomorrow and wsop-ticket+cash saturday). I have also been trying to play 200NL and have had decent success so far. Planning to play majority of my hands on 200NL the next weeks. Bankroll is 13.595$ and i have also withdrawn 1500$ at the start of this month, so i should be more than proper rolled for the level. I have increased my preflop aggression during the last month running about 22/16 as opposed to my previous 20/13, i think it's working ok, though i have major leaks in 3-bet pots i think.

I will (hopefully) post a screenshot of pokertracker from all my hands since midaugust when i come home (im now at school, "studying").

Yes, very often. But from the not very good regs who do actually 3-bet a wider range than this, u can make good mooniez by floating them/ playing back also when u don't flop a set... also, moving up in stakes i will most likely face light-3bettors more often... hence i need to work on these spots. Btw, why are u up so early (3pm)?

wtf no. even players at 25nl are 3betting a decent range these days. If either of you are playing in games where people only 3bet AA/KK, please tell me where.

Have run into some coolers the last couple of days (u know what i am talking about Larsmars), also maybe not playing my best (semi-tilt?). Didn't play at monday, was down about 250 yesterday and won 1 buy-in so far today. I also withdrew yet another 1.5K so my BR is 14972$ atm. Currently at school "reading", i am taking graduation exam in medschool this summer so i have to spend some time at school the next months. Will play some more when i get home tonight.

    Andy,
From the hands you've posted it seems like you have a great grasp of standard play and you also don't seem to be making any big mistakes in most of the hands you've posted. You've been successful so far and I think your poker future is bright. I just wanted to stop in and wish you good luck but also give some tips.

    1. Make sure you aren't calling a lot OOP. This is probably the biggest leak I see with players at your level and below. It is very rarely correct to c/c, and making loose calls from the blinds is just throwing money away.

    2. Look for bluff spots with draws (strong or weak) in places where your range is strong. Balanced ranges is a great skill that you're well on your way too because of how well your playing your nut hands.

    3. Slightly bigger bet sizing.

    Hope that somewhat helps.
    Check out the new blog!!!

Thank u very much for the comments IowaSkinsFan!

    1. I may be a little loose from the blinds. However i have tried to work on this part of my game lately, trying to 3-bet or simply fold more often.
Here's my position stats, i think they are a bit biased from all the hands from 100NL so take them with a grain of salt as i have increased my aggression at 200NL.

    2. Here i have something to work on. I am in general very cautious to bluff unknows but vs regs who knows how to find the fold button i can often play draws faster and gain lots of fold equity. Also balancing ranges i haven't put much thought in, i will surely try from now on.

    3. I think i have quite good betsizing on the river, gaining value from the fish. I have to be vary on how to compose the sizing so i get the whole stack in by the river. I play 9-tables all the time, somewhat overlapping and not always paying attention, but probably i will profit on long term doing this right.

Maybe it was bad karma changing the tiltle of the thread; had a very bad session last night, dropping about 4 buy-ins. I blew 1 buy-in right from the beginning, and never gotthe chance to recover. I feel like i did not play A-game so i only have myself to blame really. Hope to be back on track tonight.

One week since last post. Have played about 12.ooo hands, up 1187$ for a ptBB/100 of 2,51. VPIP/PFR 23/17 Aggrfact0r 3,5. Won at showdown is 49% so not as hot as before. I have tried to implement more aggression with draws in my game.

Here's an example where i use deep stacks to add more FE (I do think this is about standard as it gets, but i haven't been to good making these plays before):

Villain is a reg. and a cardrunner member. Runs 21/17/4. We had 3-bet eachother quite a lot. He uses hud so he knows i open fairly light from the button and hence 3-bets me light:

    - HERO sitting in seat 1 with $451.78 [Dealer]
    - hammerrjd sitting in seat 2 with $44.20 [Sitting out]
    - VILL sitting in seat 3 with $412.74
    - 3drawmcgraw sitting in seat 4 with $142.17
    - 10Dollar sitting in seat 5 with $239.48
    - DingSing sitting in seat 6 with $219.86

VILL posted the small blind - $1.00
    3drawmcgraw posted the big blind - $2.00

** Dealing card to HERO: 8 of Clubs, 5 of Clubs

    10Dollar folded
    DingSing folded
    HERO raised - $8.00
    VILL raised - $26.00
    3drawmcgraw folded
    HERO called - $26.00

** Dealing the flop: 2 of Clubs, 10 of Clubs, 6 of Spades

    VILL bet - $38.00
    HERO called - $38.00

** Dealing the turn: 4 of Diamonds

    VILL bet - $78.00
    HERO went all-in - $387.78

Please comment if u disagree with the play.

Monday night i won a satelitte for Las Vegas qualifier, with a worth of 1100$+90$. The final is tonight, 1 man (or woman) for every 14000$ in the prize pool gets a wsop-package. Wish me good luck!

So the month is coming to the end and this has been my best month ever, i am less than 1 buy-in from 5 digit score this month:

My good session yesterday made my month end with a 12.371$ profit. I will receive about 2000$ in rakecback on top of this.

My stats for this month looks like:

    Goals for February:
Try to keep my ptBB/100 >5 @ 200nl. Play > 40.000 hands. Learn some more/get deeper into pokerconcepts (a bit vague i know...).

Btw: The WSOP-satelitte last nigh went s***... To the first break i was up from 3000 to appx. 4000 chips. Then i managed to fold the best hand on the river: my eights vs sevens with an ace on the table... then i was down to 3000. I then went all in in sb vs a shorty on button with about 1200 chips, my QQ lost to his A3o. The very next hand i push 78o from the button (9 handed) to steal the blinds, called by 1010 from a 4000 stack and bye for me. A think it was a bit impatient to push that hand (maybe resultsoriented though). Next time...

Started February quite good. Up 2.600$ in about 10,000 hands. Bought a 24" Samsung screen so now i can play 9-tables without overlapping! I have no pokeracehud, but have open Pokertracker on my laptop so i can manually check the opps i'm playing.

Not running too good so far in February (or variance is just cathcing up). I have tried to counter the recent "downswing" by tightening up somewhat. I have also had a couple of tilty session which is total spew of money.

    Will post more updates soon.

Dude wtf get pa hud up and running! A cool tip I have is to set it to display only the last 2000 hands... that way you get to see how regs may change their game over time.

Congrats on getting to 1/2 and having a solid game. Your Jan stats look very solid.

    Experimenting - 200NL 5max.

    Thanks for the comments SinkRox!

    About the Hud:
I play 10-tables, all on miniview, the acehud doesn't support miniview on microgaming network as far as i know. If i play in normal-view i only have room for +/\ 6-tables. I have a 24" Samsung 1900x1200 (?!) connected to my 17" laptop 1400x1100 (?!).

Recovered from the tilty session and booked a nice win on friday and sunday afternoon, but lost 3-4 buy-ins sunday morning playing drunk...

Ok, February ended up about 6K + rakeback about 2.3K so 8.3K up. ptBB/100 was 2.5 if i remember correctly (writing this in school so no PT). I played 65K hands.

I don't think i will find time to play as much now in March as Feb. I'm going to Belarus (!) on vacation the first days of Easter and after this I must spend more time in school to prepare for my graduation exam which is May 19.

Nonetheless i will try to play >40K hands. The skin I'm playing on is quite fast so it gets +/- 60-100 hands/hour and i'm 10-tabling so that is some hands short of
1000 hands/hour, so about 50 hours will do it!

Hi all! 1 month since lase last update. March was a rocky ride, i ended up about break-even after a good start and a horrible ending. This including 3K in rakeback and about 2.5K.

The last one-and a half week really destroyed a lot of my confidence. I ended in minus 6 or 7 sessions in a row. It felt like all that crap which could happen gathered up and hitted be right in the face at the same time. A couple of bad beats in a row and i was tilting: making the session even worse.

So as i saw my bankroll shrink from a healthy 12K and down to towards 7K i decided to withdraw down to 2K and try a new site. I tried Everest; hated the software, and then redkings with the same experience.

So now i'm back at my original site after about a week with some experimenting with other sites and break from poker. I started up again saturday with my 2K. Won 200 at 50NL, and then moved up to 100NL and my bankroll as i write is 3.190$.

Since i have withdrawn 5K+ this month already i'm gonna set myself some new goals:

-Take shot at higher limits once i have 20 buy-ins, preferably cutting down of number of tabels (try not being such a bankroll-nit as i have always been) -> Try to develop as a player.

-Stop playing a session if a loose 4-buy-ins. Take a break (minimum 20 mins) and then play 1 level lower (also with a 4max loss of buy-in limit). -> Loosing affect my play bigtime!

-Limp less, complete less from SB, squeese more when the table has limped. 3-bet more PP.-> I need to tune up my aggression.

-Don't play drunk.-> No need for explanation.

-Hmm.. can't remember what else i thought of.

Ok, hopefully i will give an update soon!

    -Andreas
