Default I want to start a blog here..

I guess apparently you need 500 posts or something before you can do that.

Since I have increasingly disliked the liquidpoker "attitude" and wanted to move my blog somewhere, I figured since I liked you guys, especially Gabe, that I should move it over here ....

Since I'm in the process of building back from practically zero, I know there's a lot of good advice I'm going to be able to give to those trying to make the same strides, as to how I deal w/ certain players and just the way the players play at the particular stakes I;m dealing w/ in general.

Plus it will give me a good outlet to keep a log on my tilt issues as I will be reporting on almost a daily basis as to how I'm doing and remind myself that I do this for a living.

Anybody interested in helping me get around this 500 post minimum rule? I think it would be beneficial to all of us.

I used to get gabe and lukie confused, but that was mainly because they're both girls.

I'd definitely read it, your blog would be one of the more interesting ones considering you are a 3/6 player rebuilding from .25/.50! The LP blog formats kinda funny for me, too.

Thanks for the advice on AIM last night, btw.

summary -- took a shot at 1k, ran bad, some tilt.

I'm guessing he wants to move that blog here

holy shit marshall, just saw your other blog

    *ehug* dude

you have to first learn to swallow your pride and ego
start by making a standard blog in the FTR Blogs & Operations subforum
you can also get one at wordpress.com or blogger.com LDO
get your focus back, and you'll be back there in no time

For a guy who claims to have good BR management skills, you certainly did some pretty stupid things. I am guessing that your 8 table 8 buy in rule didn't work out so well?

Judging by what I read, it didn't look like what mixchange said was why you busted. It looks more like you think your a better player than you are and are not being honest with yourself. Your graph showing 258K hands looks more like a break even player on one massive heater in the middle.

Jim I think you are being harsh and underestimating him. I've had good results many times, only to move up to a higher level and not do as well, forced to move down. Obviously he had some tilting issues as well, that also happened to me when I tried to hang a the higher levels, often at the expense of my roll.

Anyway, I don't see why anyone that wants a blog and posts good content shouldn't get one (of course, I respect any decision by Xianti). I don't think he should get a blog just cause he's 'good', I welcome anyone who has been running a blog and wants to be a contributing member of the FTR community. I also think the blog he is doing could be helpful to a lot of low & micro guys. Going from 25NL growing your roll back up to 3/6 is pretty interesting to me. And I hate the Liquid Poker blog form

every time i have moved up a limit i have done terrible for at least 10k hands. at any limit too. like if i moved from 5nl to 10nl i did bad at 10nl, and so on and so forth. i was a losing player at 200nl for like 30k hands. its kind of discouraging when i try to move up to 400nl.

what you guys said has already been confirmed if you had read the post titled "things i've learned" ... ive been going through a growth/developmental stage of my understanding of the game/variance/egos that go along with it, and have been extremely humbled.

many of my posts prior to that one were very egocentric where i talk like i am a poker god. i think it's understandable for someone to win that kind of money in such a short period of time to go through a phase like that, and should be given the benefit of the doubt if he recognizes the mistakes he made.

i also feel like my character has increased tremendously during this downswing and my attitude should reflect that.

it's like i said in another thread when fervently arguing my point. i have a very strong belief system and i tend to stick to it, but when i argue my point strongly and am proven wrong, i end up learning a great deal.

not once since ive joined this forum have i claimed to be a great or even a good player, i just posted what i believed to be right and argued my points. i think this is enough justifying for one day.

if u read the post titled "22 hour session" you'd see that it did happen to work very well then, as i turned 400$ into 12k$ in 1 session. I've had similar upswings a few times, but obviously you are right that i did do some very stupid things that i am in the process of learning from.

It's not your attitude during your downswings that concern me, it will be your attitude when your on another upswing. Let's see how it plays out after your back out of this "downswing".It's very easy to be humble and reserved when your busted. Can you be the same when your sitting on $50K and playing midstakes again?

i appreciate you looking out for me, trainer jyms. make sure to keep an eye on if that ego does happen to pop up again. ive always felt that brutal truth = fastest way to change

fair enough. I am not the police around here, I just thought that the attitude I had felt in other posts and around the forums may not fit with our attitudes around here. I am only one of thousands.

    Hey, Marshall.

You should be able to start a blog here now. Follow the instructions here:
    http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...es-t63478.html
  30. #30
thanks for making the exception, hopefully i will be able to make a positive contribution to the community, as well as use the blog as a way to force myself to own up to my recent lack of discipline.

by having to talk about tilting and spewing, i know it will help to keep me from doing it. that's a big reason i wanted to get a blog up.

also i should have a lot of good advice to offer as to how im treating the moves from micro stakes back up to mid stakes (assuming i can do it). more specifically, how im interpreting the play of my opponents at each level and things im doing to improve my winrate against those players in particular.

my first post should be tomorrow, maybe the next day.

and thanks for making the exception xianti : )
