Default So I went to your silly country

For the last 9 days I've been touring San Francisco, Las Vegas and Los Angeles - the first time I've been to your country since when I was too young to remember. It's a pretty mad place, and was not entirely what I expected.

I found San Francisco to be very nice and upmarket in places but also tremendously run down with a ghetto like atmosphere in places. It reminded me most of London out of the three cities. The Golden Gate Bridge is amazing, I walked the length of that before going to Alcatraz, which I also found a fascinating place.

Obv Vegas was amazing. Dinner at the MGM Grand was awesome, although a little surreal with it being in a fake rainforest and all. All the casinos were impressive - especially the Bellagio, although I missed the last water fountain show thing there because I am a dufus

Los Angeles surprised me, it was far more run down than I expected, particularly in the area around Venice Beach. However Universal Studios was cool, and the Farmer's Market there was actually a really sweet place to visit. Also went to watch LA Kings vs St. Louis Blues ice hockey match, which was hilariously Americanized, but I really enjoyed that too.

All in all, however, England > America. Thanks.

However, conceding that Vegas is spectacular, here's a pleasing pic of me in front of the Bellagio:

    Good times.

How was the hockey game "americanized"? The puck doesn't glow in real life like they make it do on their tv stations or anything does it?

lol dont listen to these backcountry weirdos. Theres certainly stuff to see in those places but I wouldnt reccomend you visit. I feel thats more for people from america who can take something away from it since it contrasts their america. I do suggest checking out chicago new york and boston though. Def a different feel. Boston will probably feel a bit more like home to you, and chicago and new york are just bad ass american cities.

lol this is so not true. i grew up in iowa and the midwest, and the only thing in terms of tourism is visiting gay forts from 200 years ago (with the exception of Lake of the Ozarks). you want real scenery, go to Utah, New Mexico, Colorado, Northern Cal.

I've traveled most of the US, Boston is such a cool city, NY is HUGE, and Chicago was fucking cold when I went their.
    My Favorite places:
    BOSTON
    NewEngland in the Fall
West Coast Florida in the wintertime
    Block Island, RI
    Marthas Vineyard, MA
    York Beach MAINE
    GrandCanyon Arizona
    Dallas Texas
DesMoines Iowa, was the cleanest city I have ever visited.
    YBOR CITY, FLA

okay mr. happy, i have 2 questions...des moines and dalls????

my mom lives in des moines, and i can assure everyone it blows pretty hard. i mean for iowa standards its alright. i mean they have a nice art museum with a cool andy goldsworthy exhibit, but thats about it.

and dallas is the worst city ever. it has no sense of culture whatsoever. everything is very commercial. not to mention that i hate hate hate the exit ramps when you go from one interstate to the next.

    YeeeHaw!!
    NewEngland FTW!!

    on a side note.
    wil
Dallas is very commercial. but it has cool night life, and the exit ramps are engineering marvels!! Everything is so fucking big there.

Desmoines Iowa, I was there 2 nights, I just thought the city was very clean. we did nothing spectacular there. it was just really clean.... Although,,, I did visit Houston Texas and thought that place was the Armpit of America. That had to be the dirtiest city I have been too.

who the hell wants a clean city? New York is filthy, but its the often said to be the greatest city on earth. The filth gives it character.

Marthas Vineyard? Srsly? WTF... I mean Im sure its an enjoyable place, but knowing what you know if you were from england is that the place youd want to travel?

I whole heartedly agree with the grand canyon though, I really want to make it back there and this time for atleast a week. It is rightfully one of the 7 natural wonders of the world and something that everyone should check out in their life time. Next time I go though Im going to do my best to find the cool little hidden things, trying to not spend too much time around the giftshops and all that.

As for chicago, yes its cold as fuck in the winter, but I suggest you make it up here in the summer. Come check out the taste of chicago, best festival in the world. Well maybe its second to ocktober fest in germany, but if there were more beer stands with shorter lines and better beer the taste would win.

I have to agree on this. I was just talking to a friend who is coming to see my place. And we talked about how he lives in a shitty run down house but it has character, my house is nice but just a carbon copy of like 400 other ones.

Close enough to visit Boston and New York without having to stay there. Plus all the rich people live here, lol.
