    Default 2 hands from 10NL

Hand 1 - Villain is new to table, no stats/history/reads. What is my plan on the turn? At the time I thought check calling would be best, is there an argument for betting out? What do I do if I bet and he shoves? Is me checking the ace on the river just giving him the opportunity to bet and get me off my hand? All comments welcome.

    River: ($6.20, 2 players)
Hero checks, D. Palhares goes all-in $7.30, Hero folds

Hand 2 - Villain is 32/3.5/3.3 - although this is only over 30 or so hands. I felt at the time like I made a good fold, looking back at the hand I'm not so sure - he likely does this with a 9. He insta shoved.

Hand #1 you can put him on an A most likely since he jumped all over that river. Probably A10, not AJ since he seemed to bet harder after you checked the turn, but either was possible. I always say don't call with one pair and an overcard because I seem to lose every time.

Hand #2 there are so many things he could have being a super loose caller but it was a good laydown IMO. If he was a better player I'd expect a check/raise with the set. Wouldn't be surprised to see 98s, 87s, 99, or even 88.

Wow. These hands are both examples of things I HATE doing at 10nl - calling big all-in bets without a huge hand. At 10nl, things can get wacky all-in pre. Postflop, the play is generally weak-tight, and huge bets like this (absent reads) often mean big hands.

That said, I'm leading the turn on Hand 1. I have top pair and 8 outs to the straight. That's a lot of value. If I get called, I'm check/calling the river.

Hand 2, it's all read dependent. I call the all-in here sometimes, but only maybe 25% of the time. This is the type of villain I would be likely to call down based on his stats, if they were over 150 hands or so. As it is...hmmm...probably call it down and throw something across the room if I end up paying him off.

Villain reads would help a lot in both cases. In tough spots like these, I tend to fold without a good read. I'm checking for notes and any reads I can dredge up. Checking the pop-up stats. Anything.
