Villain was very loose/passive over 30 hands showing down with A10, A9, etc, playing junk. I hate losing a buyin to this kind of stuff. I even check/raised to show strength and he still called me down. Anything I could have done here or just a calling station getting a bad beat? I should have folded the river but didn't think 1010 was possible and thought he was trying to buy the pot.

real c-r please, not min c-r - you didn't display strength with this.
Also - it's not a badbeat cos most of your money went in when you were behind. And passive players don't usually buy pots. AQ was definitely possible, and also had you beat - river call is spew.

yeah when he calls your min c-r and then raises on the river there isn't much out there that you beat. 1010 might not make sense but AQ, KQ etc all would.

passive players raising is normally a sign they have a hand.

fwiw if you thought he would try and buy the pot with a weak hand i think c/c on the river would be better than b/c. but once he's called the min c-r i dont want to put more money in if he's as passive as it sounds.
