    That's a panzy-assed bet.

    I don't roll like that

What hands are you hoping will call $27?

The same set of hands that'll call $17

that's where we differ I guess

the reason id bet strongly on the river is it seems this guy is really donkish, even if his stats are over a small sample, and theres a good possibility hed call you down with a ton of 1 pair hands.
"This sure beats Super Mario Bros.!" is my ejaculation catch phrase.

Meh, you very well might be right.

Villain popped it up to like $91 & hero folded. Hero questions his b/f line.

It really seemed with that line that he his a better 2pr on river or was slowplaying something bigger...

he obv made aces up on river, or was playing you like a fiddle all along .

    Easy bet.

    I might call a c/r, but I'm a total station.

I'm trying to change my stationey ways cause I think it's largely responsible for my breaking even over the last 70k hands or so...

...I'm sure you're better at picking spots to be a pay-off bitch than I, but I find that I'm losing tons of big pots with stationey behavior so I'm gunna try being a little bit more of a bet / raise / fold kinda nit in most spots & see what that does for my winrate.

I doubt it. Losing calls in big pots are just really painful but must happen.

i called a guy down with middle pair today... he bet three streets, he had bottom pair on the flop, 2p on the turn, boat on the river.

    I'll do it again.

Consider the equity difference between making a bad laydown in a big pot vs. making a bad call.

Consider that calls aren't good or bad. There is a middle ground.

Making a marginal/badish river calls does two things that can make up some of the value:
o Gives you information on your opponent
o Establishes that you will call down with marginal hands. This can set-up a dynamic where your opponent is more inclined to play level one poker against you.

Fnord I'm holding you personally accountable for all my future pay-off bitch behaviour. I think you've single-handedly encouraged it more than anyone.

In all seriousness -- my problem is probably more handreading / taking the time to analyze villain's lines and over-trusting stats. I stack off waaaaay too lightly to anyone who looks even slightly laggy in situations I'd never to anyone else, and then some to many villains who look competent. Even the somewhat laggy villains at 100NL+ don't seem to be complete droolers postflop...

dozer ... i used to have a similar problem. i wouldnt listen to what fnord is saying for 50nl, it's fine when u get up to like 200 cuz players are much more cognizant of image, and many more value bet thinly so it makes more sense to call down lighter .... also at 200nl u should play more hands than u should at 50nl, so the more hands you play, the weaker both yours and your opponent's ranges will be by the river.

dont rely so much on the stats, u should go on your feel mostly, and use the stats only as extra information, not the only information. you'll make a lot more at 50nl playing your hands slowly and semibluffing very infrequently (unless you got a huge draw). i dont mean slowplaying, i mean, if you have QQ, open in CO, get called by BB; flop 356 BB donks into you, you should probably just call. players are gonna make their biggest mistakes on the turn and river where play is a bit more difficult and pot sizes are bigger, so just let them make mistakes. also, if u flop like to ppair or whatever oop and it seems really obvious the dude is calling u w/ a draw on the flop and turn ... check the river, they bluff it like always. it sucks to play that way but its what gets the money.

oops, thought u were playing 50nl not 100 ... still think most of what i said applies
  22. #22
I disagree with being looser at 200nl than 50nl being correct.
  23. #23
it depends on the person who u r giving the advice to. if its somebody that already crushes 200nl+ then obv he should play looser. if it's somebody that's been struggling to beat the games, they need to play tighter.
