Default Application [Game Theory] Optimal Strategy

In some hypothetical situation (the specifics of which aren't terribly important) I know that two possible reasons for choosing near-game theory optimal strategy as opposed to near-optimal exploitive strategy are for playing against unknowns and for playing against someone who adjusts better than you. Are there others?

I think it also applies when both you and your opponent are good enough to start getting several levels deep in thinking at which point game theory becomes the easier option.
Just dipping my toes back in.

For plaing when you aren't sure what your perceived range is?

Maybe we could expand on this to say it could be useful when our range is much more clear/obvious than our opponents' (for whatever reasons). But then again I'm not sure if that really is a good reason.
