    Default Heads-Up SNG

Hello everyone. I started to play HU sng's awhile ago and i find them pretty profitable. But i have a problem, i usally get my opponent to shortstack (about 500/1500 chips) pretty quick, but here's the problem, when i raise on the button they just shove all in and i don't really wan't to call that with Q-6o. Can anyone tell me how i should play when i'm against a short stack.

if they are short enough just shove yourself, typically 12BBs or less and I'll start the jam-party.

you can limp the button, min-raise the button, or *gasp* fold the button

Less than 8BB i think you should shove with Ax, Kx, Q5+, J8+ any pair and any suited connector down to 45. Plus suited one gappers to 97.
If you assume thats what the villain has to make a shove than cut it down a little and call.
Remember its the small stack that counts not the big stack, so if you have him short play all in or fold yourself using a similar range.

download a icm program like sng wizard. it can tell you the math behind all this stuff and we won't have to speculate.

You got to put out a feeler raise to see if your opponent is going to play shove poker. As soon as he/she feels that they are so short that they have to play shove poker, you make your move. As long as the blinds are low enough. When you have position with a hand worthy of a raise, you push. You can call with the SB with junk, hoping that they shove, thinking that you are trying to see a cheap flop. You let them do this a couple of times and then you smooth call with a big hand and call their all in bet. Remember, if they lose the hand, they are done, so they can't possibly (well, at least shouldn't) have the variety of shoving hands that you have. You use that to your advantage. Be aggressive, but play smart. When someone is that short you don't want to try and outplay them, you wanna get your money in good and hope that your hand holds up. Plus, if you got them that short so quick, even if you lose a race, you'll still be even or about even. NLHU is one of my favorite games. It is action-filled and exciting. It is great practice for tourney play as well. Many people are not good heads up players due mainly to the fact that there are very few hands and oppurtunities to do so in a MTT. Keep up the good work.

if you get them shortstacked quick, i'd do what spenda says, especially at the first two blind levels in your non-turbo sng hu.

gotta get more into the opponent than the cards in HU.

being tight and trapping is common for both sides when an end is in site or a big stack can switch.

they are trying to figure you out, too

at a certain point you can start open-shoving which is better than having to call shoves with bad hands
