Default looking for a media player for windows.

Soooo... I'm starting to come to terms with the fact that I'll be using windows for idk how long

Spent the whole weekend trying to get it to work more linux, so I don't feel too far from home. Found a kicker, can now resize and move windows by clicking anywhere, installed a bunch of programs that have windows ports, but what I can't find for the life of me is a nice media player... there are like hundreds of them for linux. Amarok, banshee, exaile, listen, rhythmbox...
They all support uplinks to last.fm, get cover art and wikipedia info, can create dynamic playlists (like itune's genious, only much better).
I've been using VLC on windows... but that's not really the optimal solution. Most of the time I just want to click play and forget about it... like have it shuffle through 'all songs that are kind of like the one I just played' - So I don't put in Aphex Twin, and 5 min. later I'm listening to History of Europe 1800 - 1850.

    There has to be something.

Ok, found one... was going through all the ones I knew and looked for windows ports.

This one was in early beta when I first tried it... now mozilla bought them, and there's a windows build...
    looks nice.

Also a standard linux player... it's a great video player, but it's not all that great for audio when you want it to organize stuff for you...

warpe, thanks... but ugh... that just shows how low the bar is for windows applications in this regard.

Basically I'm looking for something that is closer to itunes than winamp... only better.

Songbird doesn't have dynamic playlists either...

Let me explain this again... in player like Amarok, Exaile, Listen... you can start a 'dynamic playlist' - you play a song - the id3 data gets uploaded to last.fm for example - last.fm has a couple of methods to determine what songs fit together - the player then searches your collection for those songs, and puts them in your playlist...
plus it does other neat things like remember when you skipped a song and decrease it's popularity... while you play a song it will recommend other artists to you that you can listen to via podcasts... it downloads your podcasts and starts your podcasts and audiobooks where you last stopped listening... or you can say you want to listen to stuff that you haven't heard in some time... these players are to winamp what open office is to wordpad.

In the vlc-type category I actually prefer mplayer. The only upside to vlc is that it handles dvd's better, and the interface is better than most that you can find for mplayer.

I got itunes for my iphone... it's ok I guess but the genius playlist stuff - despite what the name might lead you to believe is pretty damn stupid and probably only works with mainstream music. The album art doesn't get fetched for most of my stuff, and it's generally not much fun to use imo.

    Those look nice.

I also found another one that I only tried as an early alpha... wasn't even called Miro back then... 'democracy player' Thank god they've changed that!

But it's pretty much purely a video player.

I use VLC for video and MediaMonkey for audio. I haven't found anything I like as much as Amarok though.

MediaMonkey doesn't have (as far as i've found) support for last.fm or lyrics downloading, but does have the ability to autotag your music files based on what it can find on the internet or by filename. It has support for subscribing to podcasts. Also you can burn to cd within the interface with just a couple clicks.
