Default I'm back FTR and getting donked into in 3 bet pots

After a month and a half break I'm back to playing poker. I've dropped down to 400nl to get back in the flow of playing. This hand is against 400nl 10 tabler Ach1ll3z who over a large sample size is 18/15 but over this session is running more like 21/18. He is sitting at 3 of my tables, I'm running 27/23 and playing very aggressive. I have been habitually 3 betting Ach in position and out of position which he has been folding too a lot. Recently I got AK in vs his 5 bet bluff with J9s preflop. Soon after that he 3 bet all in over my flop raise on a J96 2 tone flop. I sense he is getting frustrated/and trying to find ways to win pots. What do you make of this lead?

Given your description of villain and how frustrated he might be getting, I'm not sure this is a good spot to try anything. He prob expects to induce some raises on an A high board donk, and he doesn't seem like he'd be in a folding mood. So he might just monkey jam a lot in this spot with insiders etc.

I'd rather value raise light with a marginal Ax here or something, than bluff raise given dynamic.

Good explanation Griffey, it seems like the hardest part of getting back into the game for me is the mental part of getting in opponents heads and picking the right spots to make plays.

joking aside, it can be a good play in rare instances when you think the opponent usually has a draw or weak hand that has no intention of folding now but may have little to no showdown value against an all-in bet or raise by the river. I played this hand just yesterday:

    eldar182: posts small blind $25
    rassb3: posts big blind $50
    *** HOLE CARDS ***
    Dealt to nutsinho [9h 7s]
    Paulus_rus: folds
    BenyamineX: folds
    nutsinho: raises $100 to $150
    Deldar182: folds
    rassb3: calls $100
    *** FLOP *** [4h Qh 8s]
    rassb3: bets $150
    nutsinho: raises $400 to $550
    rassb3: calls $400
    *** TURN *** [4h Qh 8s] [Kd]
    rassb3: bets $550
    nutsinho: calls $550
    *** RIVER *** [4h Qh 8s Kd] [4c]
    rassb3: bets $1150
nutsinho: raises $2600 to $3750 and is all-in
    rassb3: folds
Uncalled bet ($2600) returned to nutsinho
    nutsinho collected $4823 from pot

I would say you can't get him off anything he donks here. He's gonna be aware that you hit this board harder than he does so that fact alone makes it a bad bluff on your part imo. I don't expect him to think any higher than that and when he's already frustrated he's gonna have a hard time folding.

id think his lead is frequently to induce. and I hate playing back with low equity vs. someone who is felting light

if you were considering bluffing, what line would you take, considering raising flop sucks?

and what an awesome hand from nuts, bumpworthy on its own
