That review was written on June 9. A major software update (from Android 2.1 to Android 2.2) was released in July for the phone that took care of most of the issues the reviewer had with the phone. Also one of his complaints is that the phone is too big? Of course it's big, there's a 4.3 inch screen that looks incredible.

I have the blackberry bold and love it. Like you I am also addicted to bbm and that was a huge factor in getting a new blackberry instead of an iphone or something else.

When I had a BB I loved BBM too. I have an iphone now and I miss BBM for sure, but I get by with texting. Everything else about the iphone is way better than BB IMO.

From what I understand, Kik is not BBM. Kik works like BBM but you will need all your Blackberry contacts to have Kik on their phone to message them with it. BBM is like MSN or AIM and is free for BBM users only.

yes you need them to have it, but it is free. you can send a request for all your contacts with bb's and iphones to get it. i was just mentioning it because i don't think BBM should be the reason for your choice.

Yeah, I mean the main difference between the phones is 4G. If you don't have access to the 4G network then there's really nothing to separate the two phones and the iPhone is probably better since Sprint charges you $10 for 4G access with the Evo even if you don't live in a 4G market.

Also, I think the android app market will catch the iphone market with the next 12-18 months. I think it will be superior in 18-24 which played a major reason into why I went with the iphone 4 (my last iphone I hope). I also didn't know about the stupid antenna bullshit.

Also, regarding battery life. If you buy a smart phone you accept the new phone culture of plugging your phone into your computer at work, at night, etc. No smart phone lasts exceptionally longer than the others. Deal with it.

This. I have a 3GS upgraded to the 4.0.3 iPhone OS and haven't noticed any significant decrease in battery life, although there were a lot of tech blogs moaning about it with the launch 4.0 OS. As it is, I can still go more than 24hours without recharging for casual use and if I'm using it to listen to iTunes or watch vids it's docked and charging most of the time anyway - at home, in the office and in my car.

Ive had the Evo for about a month now. The battery life sucks bad. It will last me through a day of work, but if I have something to do for a couple hours after work and am not around a power supply I am screwed. Also, I pay $10 a month for 4g and havent seen the 4g network. I would have gotten the iphone4 instead of Evo if I didnt hate at&t so much. |
