    Default Operation Discipline

I finished an operation lastnight that I started on paper and thought I should post here if only to reflect on later to keep myself on track. The purpose of the operation was to start tracking my winrate while forcing myself to practice some discipine in my overall game. The operation was to play 2000h over 10 sessions at 200h a session. One reason for this was to break myself of the habit of sitting down to play if I had 15 or 20 mins to kill and to not leave the table just because I got stacked off due to a bad beat or a horrilby played hand on my part(more often the latter but I'll never admit to that ).It's time to get serious about this shit.

My goal was to tighten up my starting range to 20%,c-bet less often, and v-bet more often.I find myself picking up lots of pots c-betting only to lose it all(or more) double or triple barreling into huge pots later.I'm trying to lower my v-bets to 1/2 the pot or less because I seem to chase off alot of hands with 2/3 or 3/4 pot sizes.

    results: 7 buyins/2000h or I guess 35bb/100

I realize that this is way to small a sample to judge winrate by but it's a start. It also shows that tight/straight up poker used as a foundation can be profitable especially when trying to learn.I post HHs,read articles, read others posts and replies and try to apply my newly learned concepts to my game. Then I confuse the crap out of myself. What did Spoon say about implied odds? What was that thing about fold equity? Is this a +EV call?

So back to step 1: Play tight straight up poker

Then go back and post hands, study, read, learn, relearn, apply learned concepts, forget learned concepts...I'm stuck on step 1 right now but thats ok.I'll keep learning and keep playing and someday I'll be better for it.I've learned this much so odds are I'll pick up the rest on the way.

I'll update this blog as often as I feel I have something of value to add to it and I'll probably add some backstory and a few rants but right now I gotta go play some poker.

    200 hands

200 extremely hungover hands today. Not a bad session but was down about 1/2 a buyin in the end.I realized halfway through that I was playing 30% of my hands so I must have been pretty bored. Not to mention I woke up this morning feeling like someone hit me on the head with the empty bottle of Jack thats still on the table.

Going over the hand histories showed me I'm playing small pps and unpaired broadways oop to much.I dont think thats just today so I'm gonna have to make it a mission to be more positionally aware with those cards.

I was gonna rant about some things I've been reading in the beginners circle today but I think I'll wait til another time as to not piss anyone off this early in my FTR career.I will say I think most better players give the fish in 2nl waaaaaaaaaay to much credit for knowing the value of their own hands.Doesn't matter much because I always learn something about my own range when I read their replies and thank you to anyone who has replied to my posts. My situation right now doesn't allow me to buy PT or HEM right now so its hard to give any decent reads on villains making it harder to get good responses to my posts.

Looks like I'm ranting anyway.I'll shut up now.

Played a home sng last night.6 handed,$10 buyin, walked out with 60 bucks!Haven't been playing alot of these home games since I started playing online but I love them.I've always done really well in this atmosphere especially when It's just a bunch of good friends drinkin' beer and shootin' the shit.I think I'm gonna do it alot more. It's the reason I started playing in the first place and makes me happy.Yeah, more home games.

Tried PTs free trial and my computer hated it.Don't think it was PTs fault but my computer crashed a week later just got back up after a week down so I'm sceptical of down loading anything right now.The problems been fixed so I should probably dive back in.Anyway,my disabilty checks will stop next month so I gotta start watching my funds really close, although I think investing in the micros version of HEM is +EV for sure so I'll probably buy it after i get my next check.thanks for the advice.I'll check out that link.

OMG,WTF day on the tables today.I was up about a buyin after 110 hands and lost 2+ buyins one jackass hero(donk) call.I don't usually tilt to bad but I just couldn't get my head back in it afterward. The following are 3 hands back to back on two different tables.I should probably post these in B/C but without stats yet I don't think they get much credit. Also,I'm going to leave in the results because this more of a tilted spew than an actual post for educational purposes.(Feel free to berate my play anyway)

Again,I have no real stats but villain is fairly tight over 50 or so hands.I think I gave him to much credit in his preflop range when he called my 3bet.Which didn't matter because almost every hand he could have had in that range(TT+,AQs+,AKo) had me beat but for some reason I felt like a hero call was in order.I think if I would of thought about for a second I would have folded.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (7 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    SB ($2.14)
    BB ($5)
    UTG ($0.38)
    MP1 ($5.56)
    MP2 ($1.91)
    Hero (CO) ($4.72)
    Button ($1.16)

Preflop: Hero is CO with ,
    1 fold, MP1 bets $0.18, 1 fold, Hero raises to $0.56, 3 folds, MP1 calls $0.38

    Flop: ($1.15) , , (2 players)
    MP1 checks, Hero bets $1.10, MP1 raises to $5 (All-In), Hero calls $3.06 (All-In)

    Turn: ($9.47) (2 players, 2 all-in)

    River: ($9.47) (2 players, 2 all-in)

    Total pot: $9.47 | Rake: $0.47

So the converter didn't show villains hand but he showed down with 77

The only thing I can say about these two hands is that this table was very loose and it was common to see all of the chips in the pot preflop with very marginal holdings.

    Hero (MP1) ($6.92)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with ,

    Flop: ($0.25) , , (2 players)
    Hero bets $0.24, 1 fold

In retrospect with hand three I think I should have raised less but thought I'd get a call.Oh well.

This will be my last post in this blog as I'll be starting a goals oriented blog now that I actually have some short term goals that I feel will be valuable and attainable on a month to month basis.I redownloaded PT3 for the free trial and am still having a ton of problems using it.I'll be spending the next couple of days working on that through their forums and support. If that doesn't work I'll try HEM or the FPDB software that Keith(thanks) suggested. This means that I won't be playing much poker because it's distracting me to much and my bankroll can't handle the losses.Hopefully I can get back on track soon.
