edit: I just realised that this is poker in the commune - where should it go instead?
I read them all, and decided to grade them. Hopefully nobody gets upset!
don - basic, meh, standard good, but empty. I also disagree with some of the content, and do poorly in DoN tourneys - so i guess the content is correct. 6/10
preparation - the worthwhile content in this article was written by Tommy Angelo, the rest is self-evident once this quote has been read. 3/10
beautiful woman - I like the story. Reading it won't make one much better at poker, but that isn't the point. NH. Polish it a little and submit it to card player or the like 5/10 for making you better at poker, 8/10 for the article
top tier - funny reading this a second time This is a great article. 8/10
getting off the bottom - all good advice. Not written badly. Nothing new. 4/10
pot equity - this sounds like the stuff I was debating with the limit forum back when I was FTR noobie posting in September 2007. http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...ws-t60040.html I hope everyone debating this concept has read Abdul Jalib's work on this concept.
This article is good, Abdul's is better. Those who aren't familiar with this stuff already will gain a lot from this. It also applies in NLHE, sorta. 7/10
checkraise vs personal attack. I think this very rarely applies in the games that most of us play. The guts of this article is to play with some aggression and to make money. 4/10
exploitation and FTC - very good content, but kinda wordy. Worth the read, with cliff notes this would be great 8/10
practise article - telling people to study. Standard stuff, but good analogy and content 7/10
Player types - I got a bunch out of this. Poker is incredibly situational, and the opponent(s) is a key component of the situation. Add even more info for those of us too lazy to do so ourselves and this becomes great. This article would be a great basis for an FTR discussion thread. I still lament the unfortunate demise of the Poker Strategy (or was that theory?) forum on FTR, whenever the forum rejig happened. If that forum had been well modded (does that verb exist?) and only appropriate content left there, the rest moved to BC etc, I think FTR would have been a better place. 7.5/10
