    Default Operation: Emotion Control

Hey, My name is Rob i'm 21. Been playing online since about November or December now. Ran $17 into $200 being rolled for 10NL. Tilted and went to 50NL and lost it all. Well ever since i've been struggling at 2NL on Pokerstars.

Got a sweat from BooG690. It has helped me tremendously, I am now beating 2NL rather well. Made it up to 5NL but again the emotions took over after losing a few stacks to coolers. Should have been no big deal. Yet i let my emotions take over. Ended up playing a $20 DoN ( idiotic i know) Lost that.

Went back to 2NL the same day and made 11 Buy Ins. Going to stick to 2NL until atleast 20 Buy Ins. Working my best to conrtrol my emotions. I sit in IRC everyday and learn. I am currently reading No Limit Holdem: Theory and Practice.

I will use this OP to post hands and random thoughts i have throughout my grind upwards. Feel free to yell at me for not using proper BRM before or any stupid moves i make. I also have a FTP account in which i use to play HU SnG's only for now.

    HAI ROB

tilt + playing outside your bankroll are the biggest contributes to losing play so just stop it! Like, theres absolutely no point in learning about anything in poker that could improve your winrate by .6 or 1.4 bb/100 if you do something that currently adds -50bb/100 to it.

and now that my yelling about your br is over, go go go!!!

Good to see you started an OP. This can be a Weight Watchers kinda thing. You have an official weigh-in every night/week/whatever. You don't want to do anything stupid in pokers since when you post it here, your ass will be flamed.

Micro and myself were talking about it last night...the #1 common factor in losers at the microstakes is lack of control. That $20 DoN was idiotic...but you already said that. Good, you understand that it's idiotic. BUT LEARN FROM IT! STOP DOING IT!

You're GOING to get stacked. If it annoys you THAT much, stop playing poker for the night. You don't deserve the honor of playing such a great game if you're not going to play your best.

Now, as JKDS said, get focused and gogogogo!
That's how winners play; we convince the other guy he's making all the right moves.

Not much to update as of yet. Havn't really ran into any spots where idk what to do. Just some bad calls i KNOW i should fold.

I did however move back up to 5nls today 1k hands for +2.5 BI. Hopefully i'll get into the full swing of things and be at 10nl late Aug or earlier Sep

Just a quick analysis but your VPIP/PFR should be closer together meaning you either limp too much or call raises too much. You cbet nearly every time. That's probably a leak. At FR you can usually get away with cbetting a tad more but that's a shit ton. Do you have a set 3bet range? Seems big.

Ship a bunch of HH please. Like 10 that you had trouble with or questions. Also throw in some bonus ones where you called preflop. I want to know your thought process about calling preflop in most situations. I really think you can get your preflop game going a lot better and the rest will take care of itself at your level.

Playing way too many hands from EP, not opening/raising enough from LP, and defending your blinds a lot....?

Am I reading those numbers right?

Schya- How were you able to save the pictures of your stats to post here? I'm still trying to figure it out...
I can save my earnings graph but I havent figured out how to save a picture file of the different stats like you did....

Oh yeah your stats.....you are calling waaaay too much. Calling as apposed to raising will lose you money in the end. Lower your VPIP a bit, raise your PFR a bit and your bb/100 will increase at an alarming rate.....good luck!

Quickish update, im looming around 5nl now. Still not studying enough which isnt ood because im have a very good oppurtunity in front of me with spoony helping. I just go over hands and dont really analyze them like i should, that's about to change quick. IDK how many hands ill be playing for the rest of the month. Planning to study more than play.

Have been learning TONS from spoony and the other guys in the group. Im taking this for all its worth and thinking about my game a ton. I feel like when i analyze hands and go back over them its pretty obv about ba plays i make. I need to post them anyway though so ppl can tell me and get it ingrained. im just gunna keep limping along for now and take full advantage of whats in front of me.

Also on a side note finally getting back into the gym trying to drop some weight that i've gained since i got with fiance. Feels good to be back in there after a year hiatus.

On another note im planning a trip to VEGAS in january to see my buddy that just moved there about a month ago. Money is kinda tight so im saving every penny i can. I think im getting family to buy plane tickets for christmas. Im planning to play live in a casino for the first time! Any pointers? Well thats about it for this not so quick update.

So sick...... Had a great september at 5nl ran about 30bb/100 over 15kish hands. Then october hits and i want to vomit. -11 Buy ins within 2 days!!. I dont know what the hell happened. But i need to fix it and quick. BR stands the same only because of FTP take2 promo and rakeback (which isnt much at 5nl mind you)

To think if this didnt happen past 2 days id be sitting pretty at 10nls. I have got to figure this out. I gurantee atleast 4 of those buy ins were tilt induced. Ive been spewing TONS of chips to FEESH i mean like 60/50 over 200ish hands. Alot of them chasing FD's and hitting the river. It's just a bit discouraging atm i mean last month proves i beat 5nls. Just gotta straighten up and get it done. NO TILTING (hence the OP title) MUST study way more than i have been. Im gunna watch Spends video series on how to beat 6max again, as i moved to 6max a few thousand hands ago.

GIVE ME ENCOURAGEMENT, TELL ME ITS POSSIBLE.

Oh and new rule. NO LOOKING at HEM or my Cashiers tab during sessions. At all for that matter unless to review hands. I put wayy to much pressure on myself to make money and move up. When i should just be worried about making +EV decisions and worry about the long term.

    I am Queens Blvd.
I'm also not allowing myself to look at HEM or the Cashier's tab. I took out the popup in the HUD that shows me a player's winnings.

As for October sucking, I lost eight buy-ins last night. Welcome to the club

So as of late i have not put much effort into studying my game like i know i need. I have however been practicing ranges quite a bit at the tables. And as expected im getting better at putting villains on a range of hands. Watching moreso of the actions they are taking and have taken in the past, just generally aying more attention to their habits and less of my own.

But you know what, its NOT enough. I need to actively put alot more of my attention into the game away from the tables. I never have been one for studying but its time to change. I want this to develop into more than a hobby in the coming years. And they only way to do that is put the time in.

Recently i reached 20 buy ins for 10nl. So i moved up and the first session i played win a tad under 2 buy ins. (Great right? Thinking i am fully a 10nl player now) Well another session later that night i totally spewed off alot of moneys. Went from 220 to 172, Hey it happens. Before i started talking with spoon i use to be an aggro tilt monkey. It didnt even phase me that i lost almost $50, Which in my eyes is a great thing as it means progress. Well i did drop back to 5nl for another session last night and won about 3 buy ins there.

Think i psyched myself out and tried to change my game, Trying to make people fold. Instead of playing according to how they were playing and playing the game i know how to. So another week or so of grinding 5nl and ill move back up. Possibly gicing myself a bit more of a cushion and waiting till 23 or 25 buy ins for 10nl.

If you see mein IRC or on FTR or at the tables for that matter. Tell me to go study. This game is not beyond me i CAN beat it.

Well spiraled down a bit. Just cant seem to get thngs going. This month started off -13 Buyins i made it back in the black to only have the last 3 days have me -11 buyins. Something is apparently wrong here. I am going to post some spew hands tonight when i get home from work. a few buyins were complete spewtard of me which i may have been on slight tilt. Nothing major like the past though.

Playing is gunna take somewhat of a backseat to Excersize and Poker Study. I know how to beat my level but i get unfocused very easily. Which is a HUGE leak. I have a few ppl that have offered me sweats and im about to take advantage of that for sure. Snap some sense into me.

I are teh nub tilt monkey BR is ~50$ i tilted the rest off. So now im back at 2nl where guys will call with anything. Name of the game is FOLD down here.

    Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (5 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    UTG ($4.14)
    MP ($6.53)
    Button ($3.15)
    SB ($4.33)
    Hero (BB) ($2.27)

Preflop: Hero is BB with K, K
UTG bets $0.04, MP calls $0.04, 1 fold, SB calls $0.03, Hero raises to $0.18, UTG calls $0.14, 2 folds

PreFlop: Villain minraises which could mean a bit of strength but being hes a 59/19 i don't believe it to be true. So i i 3bet with my KK which may actually be a little to big. Villain calls, range is something like 66+ JTs+ AKo AQo AJs KJs KTs QTs 9Ts maybe 98s

    Flop: ($0.44) J, 4, 3 (2 players)
Hero bets $0.40, UTG raises to $0.80, Hero calls $0.40

Flop: Villain basically minraises my PSB. Looking like JJ+ AJs could be other suited connectors like 9Ts QTs AKs AQs giving a flush.

    Turn: ($2.04) 4 (2 players)
    Hero bets $1.29 (All-In), UTG calls $1.29

Turn: being that a club didnt hit i wasnt certain he was on a flush. I havnt seen him fold much but nor have i seen super strong showdowns. So i decide to get it in here. Well he calls meaning JJ+ AJs or of course a flush from various SC's

    River: ($4.62) 3 (2 players, 1 all-in)

    Total pot: $4.62 | Rake: $0.30

So Spoony challenged me to not look at my HEM winnings or my Cashiers tab for a week and see how i do.

This is going to be hard for me i think. But a step in the right direction to making +EV plays nand not being results oriented. So im going to try and do it.

This is what I do and it's a huuuuuge help. Also be careful not to look at your bankroll in the Stars popup when you sit down at a table and it asks you how much you want to buy in for.

Do you have a hard time folding when you are playing really bad players??
It has to have something to do with this if you are losing huge chunks of $$ at 5nl.
I was in a similar circumstance for a short while and I came to the realization that bad plyers still get good cards and good hands once in a while. They are bad because: they call bets with improper odds, they play too many hands pre, they take mediocre hands too far and they don't know how to properly bet.
If, on the river, you get reraised big and this new found aggression of the Villain tells you that you are beat, learn to lay it down. Just because he hit his flush, straight, A on the turn or river, doesnt make him better than you...it just makes him fortunate in that particular hand.
  29. #29
Oh no i was crushing 5nl. Some shots at 10nl with just a few coolers set me on tilt. then i lost it all. m now back at 2nl. I was struggling at first because i had forgotten people at 2nl will call with ATC so i need to be a bit weary and see when they perk up. last few days have been going good in the right direction though.
