i 3bet his BTN raise because this is the 3rd or 4th time in a row he's done this small raise if that's a good enough reason

what better hand is folding this river? the king doesnt help your range much so its not like he is getting off his TT

also, 3bet bigger pre? bet flop a bit bigger, bet turn bigger. if you are betting flop it should be for value, the turn is a semi bluff and the river should be a c/re-evaluate because the only hand you fold by betting is a flush draw and anything else is calling you down, however a lot of okay hands that call you down will not be value betting the river so if he bets its probably the nuts or air so figure out a range and decide it you can call

I would definitely bet river after betting turn in that spot. I would size it bigger maybe between 2/3rds and 3/4ths. I think he can have a lot of pocket pairs in his range between 9 and 4, or a weak 9. I dont think we'll really ever win at showdown too often. Turning the bottom end of your range in these spots can be quite profitable. The king is not a bad card to barrel either. I think by checking in this spot you let him decide how much to bet and get owned when he does and he checks back hands that you could have probably blown away with a decent sized bet.

Agree with eragotte about previous sizing. Playing these sorta hands oop in a small pot can be pretty tough.

we're hoping he folds everything under JJ+ and believe it or not it helps that we have a set blocker, so he can only have 99 for the nuts, everything else is tough for him since he prob doesn't have AA/KK either.

Its a good triple barrel spot coz the king is good for your range, the bets have been so small that he is probably coming along with the weakest part of his range and TT would probably be the top of his range. Plus the fact that he is a massive multitabler and a bit nitty postflop, he can find a lot of good reasons to fold here and find a better spot.

Not to mention the fact that giving up in these spots and showing down this hand would be really weak and terrible for your image.

how surprised should i be that he showed up with AK?

also i wish i had taken a couple seconds to consider my bet size: overbet shove was just unnecessary and in this case was very costly

meh AK is a tiny part of his range, sucks.

He has medium-small pairs enough that betting the river is optimal.
