Default Pokerstars changes the buyin structures

PokerStars Announcement of Changes to NL/PL Cash Game Buy-ins - Internet Poker - Online Poker Forum

    cliffs:

    20-50bb
    40-100bb
    100-250bb with 20%bb antes

Tables will be very clearly labeled so there's not a "default game."

Personally i think the changes are meh but something is better than nothing.

The deep tables are a cool addition. Something I haven't played a ton of given I've played a ton on stars the last couple of years.

They said they also added euro tables to more stakes which is also something I'm looking forward to.

Regs need to start tables and make sure the fish see mostly 40-100 games in the lobby. This will in turn make the pro-ratholers (who are mostly European and have this option) go to another site, ensuring the death of 20-50bb games.

    START TABLES!

nobody's gunna join the 20-50BB games except fish and shortstackers.

Which will be interesting because the pro ss'ers are used to making money (or breaking even) from shoving over loose openers. With no fullstacking regs in their games, they'll have to adjust to tighter fish opening ranges...but at the same time it should make their games softer if they adjust properly.

Wait a sec, why am I thinking so much about stupid pro ss'ers instead of the real gold: playing taggfish 250 deep?

Didn't FT do something similar recently? Recently, the network I am on got a noticeably large increase of short-stackers. This change will likely result in the same thing again

Well at least it's a step in the right direction. Even the small stakes games were getting pretty anoying with a ton of tables having 1-2 ss's on them.

so whats the best option going to be ..

    a. buying in for 100bb in a 40-100bb game at 50NL
    b. buying in for 100bb in the 100-250bb game at 25NL
    c. buying in for 250bb in the 100-250bb game at 25nl
    d. buying in for 50bb in a 40-100bb game at 100nl

will option b make you look as big a fish as option d. and will option d be a steppping stone to moving up to option a as you move up levels. Will some people be dropping down to the deep stacked tables atthe next level down to try and find easier opponents t play against.

I wouldn't buy in deep if you have 0 clue how to play deep. Not that anyone else does in mmsnl or ssnl but yeah i would stick to the A.

    i vote buy-in deep.

Learning how to play deep can never be a bad thing. It's just another extension of adapting to every situation which is what a good poker player should be able to do. 100bb was always just an arbitrary number anyway, go learn to play deep. Put in a few thousand hands at a lower level if you don't feel comfortable yet.
