Newbie help re a few situations please

Ok so I have recently got back into poker and tried my hand at heads up. Currently playing 1p/2p at £5nl



Have gone from a deposit of £40 to £300 in about 25 days play (a couple of hours a night - and a good 6 hours at weekends).

I feel I have got the basic covered re position and button raising and adapting to the villian. I have a few questions re calling tilters. Have frequently got the the point in a game where the villian is

a) getting peed at me for constaintly raising the button
b) beating them in general

As a result many will start doing aggrr plays pre both in and out of position. So I have 2 main questions.

Question 1) The villian is on hyper tilt shoving all in every hand. What would you guys start calling with. Lets assume they have just been staked and topped back up to max so the stacks are £9.50 vs £5

Assuming they can have any 2 cards what are you calling with. I am currently looking them up when I feel I have a 75% chance or more of winning. So calling any pair including and above tens, AQ,KQ,AK,AJ,ATs and any ace bigger than A7

My thought process is I dont want to gamble too much. Are my calling hands okay / too tight?

Would I be okay to drop this to 88+ and JQ+ if the villian has only £2 left? or should I just leave unless he rebuys to the max?


Question 2)

i)Villan is semi tilting and raising random amounts on most hands. What would be the heros line in position with say JQ? say I called / raised and take it to the flop:

Flop comes KQ5. If the villain donk bets say 3/4 pot would a raise and call to a shove be okay here?

ii) another example

villian raises pos say 12p (ie an overbet - consistent with their semi tilting) would hero 3bet or call AQ OOP?

Say then the flop comes 35T? hero checks for example. villian 3/4 bets HERO?
or should i bet then fold a shove?



If any of you could give me some advice. either generally or in context with the questions it would be much appreciated.

Question 1) This is actually a coin flip theory question. If villain is shoving literally any two cards then you call with anything that has a 51% edge against those hands. However, if the amount you are risking is a large % of your BR then you would be a fool to go so thin. Its really risk/reward question that is hard to answer without knowing your BR.

Question 2) This is most certainly ok if villain is being a lag. Don't focus on whether opponents are tilted or not. Focus on what tilting does to their range of hands and how they are acting to you.

I guess the best thing I can say is when you have a tilting player, especially online you should be counter intuitive and actually be more patient. You are going to see so many hands per hour that there is no need to get involved with anything close to a coin flip. Maybe you call pre-flop with a bigger range in order to try to flop the nuts, but no reason to guess and hope with a call to a big bet. He can take small amounts from you over and over and then one hand you will take his whole stack. When you do have a premium holding let him bury himself and don't scare him away.

If they shove over and over while the blinds are small just wait for your pocket pair (1/17) and then call. They will win 400 or so chips but then you'll win that hand and be at 2000 while they sit at 1k.
