This kind of stuff puts me off playing live, though at the same time I recognise that cheating is inevitable, there will always be someone who tries. I haven't played in a casino or card house, though if I do it seems fairly obvious for me to protect my cards at all times. I'd want to know who's standing around the table and where, and why. I'd complain if someone's mobile phone was on the table, or if they were constantly looking at it on their lap. In the unlikely event that I'm ever at one of those featured tables where the TV get to see the cards, I'd want to know who has access to the footage, and gaurantees that someone is responsible and accountable for the footage. I'd want to know as much as possible about the casino and it's history before I even step in there.
Thing is, why are they allowing people to hang around the table where they can see the hole cards of the players?
As for this casino in question, it's all very well them pressing charges against this German man, but I can't help feeling they would have turned a blind eye had he been French...

Honestly, I don't understand why people actually do this. I often daydream while I'm card dead, imagining how much easier this game would be if I had some magic programme that showed me everyone's hole cards. But, if I actually had this magic programme, would I really be able to live with myself, knowing I'm stealing money off people to survive? It would take away everything that I enjoy about poker, each big pot would become a soulless criminal act, instead of a wave of euphoria followed by a loud cheer. I actually feel sorry for this German man, because he lacks integrity and honesty, qualities in a human that are far more important than wealth. He must be very unhappy, even if he is wealthy. I hope he reflects on his life while in prison, and comes out a better man. I doubt it though.
I think I'll stick to internet poker for now.
