    Default Thems fightin words

Please help me answer a simple poker etiquite question!! This story should entertain and I really need your help.!

It was a typical rather drunken Saturday night at my neighbor Mike's place. Mike cracked out his fancy table that's been upside down in his garage for the last six months, maybe longer. The fridge went on "yellow alert" so while my husband was on a beer run, I played his five dollar buy in stack. By the time my husband returned I had doubled his winnings. We split the stack so we could all play and have fun together. A few hands later, Mike, was forced into a chip loan from the other leader after I cleaned house on a righteous all in. Both Mike and I had full houses, yet mine was, oh yeah, aces over kings. I do not think Mike likes getting his ass kicked by anyone in his own home, let alone a woman.

Now Mike likes his table run "properly" with the "burn and turn," cutting to dealer's right, and so on. I noticed Mike shuffling the cards face-up so that a keen eye could observe the layout of the entire deck. In a friendly yet competitive tone I said, "Hey, you can't do that!" Mike when ape shit arrogant and insulted me severely, yowling that I was a dumb ass that knew nothing about cards. I replied that I did not like the way he was yelling at me. He retorted in the kindest of fashions that if I didn't like it I could just leave and never come back! Well this 1/2 Irish. 1/2 Italian chick does not take to kindly to being told to get the F out and to shut the F up so I did neither, though I was on my way to the door for sure. You gotta know when to run as they say. My husband ended up slammed up against Mike's wife's car in the driveway, denting in her driver's side door.

Yeah, well, let's just say, Mike's wife is pissed and our neighborly friendship is in permanent state of not happening.

I know a man's home is his castle and he can run his poker game however he likes. So what are your thoughts? In a game with real money on the table have you ever heard of shuffling face-up a time or two to get the bend of the cards in line before proceeding on with the traditional shuffle and cut? Please tell me is this something that is ever done? I plan to suck it up and make peace with guy but I want to get my facts straight first.

    Thank you kindly,
    Liz

also pretty funny that so much shit hit such a small fan as shuffling cards face-up.

I would advise playing with real cards that don't bend when shuffled. Therefore negating the need to shuffle face up to correct the bend.

Gemco or Copag both do nicely.

I shuffle face up occassionally, but obviously i mix the cards up to shit after I'm doing it.

and that big picture better include a goddamn pair of tits!
The Dunning–Kruger effect is a cognitive bias in which unskilled individuals suffer from illusory superiority, mistakenly rating their ability much higher than average. This bias is attributed to a metacognitive inability of the unskilled to recognize their mistakes

    But seriously Liz,

His house, his rules, his temper. But, that does not give him the right to insult anyone. For his insults, you are allowed to do whatever you want to his car. Not his wife's car though.

Can't believe this didn't make it into the POTY 2k9 nominations.
