    Default BR Management

I have read the articles and some of the posts on here about BR management. Most say that you should have 2000 to 3000 bb's or 20 to 30 buy ins to play any limit. How does multi tabling affect this? if I have 30 buy ins is it safe for my BR to play 10 tables ? I haven't seen this addressed anywhere on here. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Win-rate goes down as you increase tables, so you need a slightly deeper bankroll the more tables you play to maintain the same risk of ruin.

In general, it's better to play fewer tables and work on getting better at poker than to try to get in more hands.

Welcome to FTR and the forums!

What stakes are you playing? Generally you want more bi's as you climb up through the stakes. I'd say up to 10nl your ok with 30bi's but as you move up higher I would increase my requirements.

As spoon says it's really so much more +EV to play fewer tables and focus on improving your game. Nothing is more frustrating than getting in 40k hands in a month and having a winrate of 0.72bb/100 when you could have played 1/3 as many hands and actually increased both your bankroll and your skill set!

The object is to fill the pot of experience before you empty the pot of luck."

Well i have worked my way up to .02/.05 and I started out playing 4 tables at a time. Playing 4 tables i was pretty much break even. But i have added double the tables and i know this sounds stupid but i feel I play better this way. Over the past 10 days I am up about 20 buy ins. The more tables force me to tighten up and the quick decisions keep me from lingering on bad beats. The biggest downside is that i am not getting good notes anymore. right now my BR is at $ 207 If i have been winning consistantly at .02/.05 is it time for me to try .05/.10? Of course i would start this new level with less tables until i feel comfortable. Does any of this make since or am I doing something stupid? Thank you guys for your feedback.

If you've won 20 buyins at 5nl and have at least 20 buyins for 10nl, go ahead and take a shot. You can always move back down.

It's really up to you. 5% of backroll is the general feeling for good backroll management. Mike Caro says any amount as long as you can refubish your backroll. If you have a backroll of $100 according to him you can play any limit you want to as long as you can refubish it. You may only have $100 online but may have $1900 at home that you can use to reload with. If you lose that $100, you only lose 5% of your poker stake. I stick to 5% of my online backroll, cash games and tournaments.
