I haven't kept up and wasn't aware that Nakamura should even be on the list.

No chess players in the commune?

Naka had a solid win today over Grischuk. Anand won, Carlsen drew, Kramnik drew.

The only name I know is Anand, so he gets my full support.

Nakamura is apparently a giant underdog, so he gets my full support.

This is really the famous Wijk aan Zee tournament that's been held in Holland for decades. Here's a little rundown on some of the top contenders.

Magnus Carlsen, 20 yo from Norway, true prodigy, a chess monster. There's a good chance he'll go down as the best player ever. According to ratings lists, he's been the world #1 many times already.

Viswanathan Anand, 41, current world champion, famous as a nice guy, extremely solid.

Lev Aronian, 28, from Armenia, current world blitz champion, world #3 behind Anand and Carlsen.

Vladimir (Peter) Kramnik, 25, former world champion, world #4, Russian. Very hard to beat, draws alot.

    Kramnik back in the day...

Hikaru Nakamura, 23, best American player. Alot of people don't like him because he's a little brash and arrogant, but he plays very exciting chess, always going for the win. World #10.

Naka had a great win over Shirov today, very technical. He's alone in first, but there's still alot of chess left to be played. Pretty much everybody else drew, except Carlsen, who got crushed by the Dutch phenom Anish Giri. Carlsen tried a novelty as white against the grunfeld that went horribly wrong and he actually dropped a piece and resigned on move 22, pretty unheard of at that level.
