Default AKo on monotone Axx flop in 3bet pot.

Villain is a loose-passive who I know calls 3bets wide but have not had a single 4bet hand yet with. I do know he will 3bet hands like AJo despite his fairly low 3bet % and he tends to get very locked into TP regardless of kicker. I think it's safe to assume he is probably 3betting AT as well as KQ and since we have absolutely 0 4bet dynamic after 350ish hands I don't see any reason to start one now.

    Full Tilt - $0.50 NL (2 max) - Holdem - 2 players
    Hand converted by PokerTracker 3

    BB: $64.65
    Hero (SB): $177.10

Hero posts SB $0.25, BB posts BB $0.50

    Pre Flop: ($0.75) Hero has A K

Hero raises to $1.50, BB raises to $4.00, Hero calls $2.50

    Flop: ($8.00, 2 players) A 8 9
BB checks, Hero bets $4.00, BB raises to $12.00, Hero calls $8.00

So far he has checked every 3bet pot that I can remember. I lead here because I do not want to see a 4th heart and he is going to have a lot of As that I can get value from. His raise is a little scary but he has made raises with TP hands pretty consistently throughout the match. Despite most of his range for doing this being Ax hands I don't see much merit in 3betting as I am sure that would narrow his range significantly.

    Turn: ($32.00, 2 players) 8
    BB bets $21.25

I feel like this is probably a jam as he won't fold any Ax he may hold. Fwiw I don't see him ever having an 8 here and A9 is extremely unlikely. I'd say his range is essentially AT+, KQhh, and I suppose it's possible he would play a big pair with a h this way as well as he is certainly the type of player who would just never fold KK because it's KK regardless of the board. It is possible that he has some air as well because I have caught him bluffing a few times but given that most of his air probably has a h I still think that jamming is probably a no brainer here.

    I'd 4bet anyway pre.

As played, this is a hand you make your decision on the flop. You either think he has bluffs in his range or you don't. I'm not saying that you shove it in here if you think he has bluffs, I'm just saying that you should've decided what you were gonna do i the turn before you called the flop.

I may just fold the flop but given you played 350 hands with this player I think you can answer the question best. The turn was also the absolute best card you could have seen besides a 9, so calling the flop and then thinking of folding this card is retarded.

I agree. I was never going to fold the turn I was just questioning jamming vs calling and calling any non heart river. I was only going to fold the turn if it was a heart because any of his bluffs would likely contain a heart.

I think your decisions are much simpler if you just 4-bet pre. I'd probably just try to get it in on the flop, loose passive's don't like to fold draws, so he may just call it off with a heart draw, and I don't think he's ever folding AT-AQ. As played i'd still jam the turn to try and get value from any draw that hopefully bricks the river.

I don't think a good player does anything just to make things simpler

Haha, I actually thought my logic made sense there when I was thinking through how the hand should play out, but ya completely retarded reason for doing it. I think I may occasionally do things for that reason in game, so I'm glad you called me out on that.
