I can't believe anyone would say they prefer cans to bottles (aside from a value perspective). In fact I can't think of a single person I know who would day that. I even prefer bottles to draught.

    Oh, you.

The weaknesses of the opinion that Boddingtons is not great are well documented.

Dan, I can see how beer in the UK probably doesn't come in cans that often. Sam Adams and the like here only comes in bottles (I think). If all were put in cans and bottles, I think I'd still prefer canned beer.

When I say canned > bottles > keg. I'm basically talking about a single flavor of beer, not all combined. Like canned Budweiser > bottled Budweiser > kegged Budweiser.

I also have an extremely tiny sample size when it comes to drinking beer (not even legal yet!) so mebbe I should withhold for another month (21st bday!!).

It's all situation dependent. If I'm out golfing on a hot day, a near freezing can of Bud>>>>>nearly anything. In all other scenarios, I pretty much avoid Bud altogether.

If eating BBQ off a paper plate, cans are pretty much required, unless draft in plastic cups is available but this isn't often so. As an offshoot of this, cans are required when tailgating, even if you're not BBQing, again with the keg/plastic caveat applying. If ever on a boat, motherfucker, cans are where it's at.

Sitting in a bar talking to friends means draft in nearly all scenarios. Everything else is wrong unless there happens to be a mechanical bull in the room or if there are more cowboy hats and/or ball caps in the room than naked heads, in which case draft is clearly wrong and bottles are necessary. Beer to accompany restaurant food requires draft. Standing in a club means bottles.

    Bottles.

As Dranger said, the best beer in the US (Sam Adams) refuses to do cans. That should tell you something.

Curiously, I think the correct opinion based on taste is draft > can > bottle, but can and bottle should always be poured into glass.

Sometimes poured into glass improves taste by a ton. I once did that with a bud light, and instead of tasting like donkey urine, it tasted like Heather Locklear urine

I agree. One should always use a glass to be able to stick their nose in the beer and smell the deliciousness. Well, at least Sam Adams smells delicious.

90% of the beer I drink is either in a dressing room after hockey, or on the field after a softball game. I want the beer you guys call piss because I just want to guzzle some fluids. No way am I going to drink anything I would consider real beer when I just need a drink. And always cans, you don't want glass bottles around bare feet and showers with a bunch of moronic, drinking jocks all testosteroned up.

Now once we get to the bar for wings and nacho's I may drink something better, from the tap and in a pint glass.

I hate Corona and didn't see the MHL.

Miller is always skunked out as shit but drinkable, bud light is the redneck's delight and budweiser is THE KING OF BEERS.

    Rilla ftw as always.

wow - people in australia love corona, me included.

Theres nothing wrong with easy drinking beers guys!!! (granted a lot of them suck) but yes all those other beers in the back of that car are what i'd call piss.

I dunno why people love bottles so much... the neck froths the beer as you drink it - i often pour bottles into a glass so i can take unrestricted gulps or sips yo.

    +1

But if you are drinking piss, the aluminum can taste is probably making it taste better.

Bud Light is the single most unenjoyable beer I've ever had. Bud on tap is ok. Afer I had one, I realized why they put so much money into commercial advertisements. It's got to be made by mixing the dregs of regular Budweiser with water to make it 'light beer'. It's the beer equivalent of Chinese Restaurant Soda.

I've had better High Life luck with pint cans compared to bottles. I suppose Miller's clear glass doesn't protect the beer from light and High Life turns very sour when it sits around too long. So there are times when cans taste better than bottles. I usually try to find a store that sells a high volume/turnover, so the beer is always freshly delivered. Beer from grocery stores is coin flip undrinkable, IME.

Also, I think someone might've mentioned this, but beer has a bigger taste out of a pint glass compared to a bottle/can because the glass sips differently than a bottle/can. You get much more flavor on your tongue from beer in a pint glass. I find a regular tapered pint glass to be the best, or a 'short beer' glass is ok, too. This effect is more noticeable on beer's that have more complex tastes than it is for typical domestics. Anyway, it's worth taking the time to pour a bottle/can into a glass, for better flavor.

I mean, like I said, I'm not beer expert lol, but I legitimately enjoy sitting around and pounding some Bud Lights, Busch and Busch Light, Miller Lite, etc. Shit, I've been known to drink Bud Light Lime (and its not half bad).

I've only had Sam Adams a couple times, one was Noble Pils (sp?) and it was pretty good (better than any of the above mentioned) and the other was Okterberfest, that was ok, but I was a nub to drinking beer at the time so I didn't like it all that much.

Some beer is piss, for example Busch Light is obviously piss in a can, yet I have no problem drinking it. I don't get what all the fuss is about, just drink your beer and be happy.

I will say that when you guys talk about weak/light domestic beer in bottles or cans you are talking about piss poor american beer too. In Canada, beers like Coors Light and Bud light are different beer. Not great beer, but drinkable. FWIW, I've been drinking Brava light lately, and it's not anything special but it's drinkable without being overly flavorful when hanging out and drinking 6-7

The biggest problem with canned beer is that it's treated like crap. Given properly maintained beverage from the same company they should taste exactly the same and I would choose a can 100% of the time.

On similar logic keg beer rules the kingdom and it is not even close.

    This.

Budweiser, Bud Light, Miller Lite, PBR etc are volume/outdoor beers. If I'm out fishing, grilling, playing golf, tailgating, out on the beach all day, then these are my go to, (Especially Bud Light), since it's not a heavy beer, refreshing imo, and you can basically drink them all day and still function at a somewhat competent level.

On the other hand, if I'm just having a beer to drink a beer at home or want to drink a couple with dinner then I upgrade to a Boston Lager or an import, since they do taste better and go a hell of a lot better with food than Bud Light.

When I'm going for quantity I prefer cans.

But if I'm drinking for quality then bottles/draft definitely.

And since I drink 10x the Bud Light than any other beer I'm going to vote cans.

You're right, you do get a lot more flavor from a glass, but that's because the majority of the "flavor" you experience is from the smell, not from the taste. An open glass where you dunk your nose in simply allows you to inhale more aromas while drinking. All your taste buds tell you is whether something is sweet, sour, bitter, salty, or savory, it's your nose that tells you the rest.

Bottles whenever possible. Cans when at the beach or anywhere else I may have to pack trash out. As for piss beer, Coors light >>>>>>>> Bud anything. If Bud is the only choice I don't drink beer.
