Don't apologize to Atlanta. If they cared even a bit they would still have the Flames. Thsi was their second chance at having a real sport to watch in the city.

I don't think they can use Jets for some reason.

The Jets name is available to be used, but the brand may not have any staying power. They may want to use the Manitoba name instead. Word is Manitoba Moose might be used because of the popularity it has had as of late, or even the Manitoba Polar Bears for something new.

Why not name them the Whalers as future planning when the team needs to move somewhere in 3 years...

I'm betting on the Jets. Moose are going to St. John's and there are lots of Moose on the Rock so no need to change.

They interviewed the head of True North on Bob McCowen's show today. He was very careful not to deny the Jets as a name when asked. They just have a lot of things on the plate right now that they haven't supposedly settled on a name. I'm thinking now, it sounds like the Jets for sure, but they will redesign everything from the ground up.

Yeah, I was gonna say in response to your earlier post that apparently it's the NHL that owns the Jets brand so it is available if they want it.

One of the big questions they keep talking about here on sports radio is that the Coyotes are actually the old Jets team. In Glendale, they have all the memorabilia, retired jerseys and numbers and stuff. How do the "new" Jets have any legacy if all that stuff is part of the Coyote's franchise? What do they do about things like retired numbers, the franchise records and anything else that is actually Coyotes "property"

The Coyotes should sell it, imo. They were trying to raise capital after all (in order to piss away).

Yeah I'm real stoked over the new Winterpeg franchise. Guys like Eric Belanger -- of the Coyotes, ldo -- were bashing the idea of a move to Winnipeg on account of the climate and distance from major markets. But seriously, what kind of a guy plays hockey his entire life and then complains about cold weather? Seriously, fuck you Eric Belanger.
