    Default [10NL] 99...OOP in 3bet pot

    Villain is 38/23/0 over 89 hands. ATS in LP, 53%. 50% from CO. FT3B 100%, 3/3. FTCB 33%.

Had seen this guy do some weird stuff already, overcalled IP with K6s. Calls 3 streets with K high.

    PokerStars - $0.10 NL (6 max) - Holdem - 6 players
    Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

    MP: $2.41
    CO: $12.47
    BTN: $3.75
    SB: $12.84
    Hero (BB): $18.28
    UTG: $18.23

SB posts SB $0.05, Hero posts BB $0.10

Pre Flop: (pot: $0.15) Hero has 9 9

fold, fold, CO raises to $0.30, fold, fold, Hero raises to $1.05, CO calls $0.75

    Flop: ($2.15, 2 players) 7 T A
Hero bets $1.05, CO calls $1.05

    Turn: ($4.25, 2 players) A
    Hero checks, CO checks

    River: ($4.25, 2 players) 4
Hero checks, CO bets $2.80, Hero ???

3bet pre good/bad? He had folded to every 3bet so far, albeit a small sample, and I don't really want to play 99 OOP without the initiative at least.

Cbet the flop because chk just seems super bad and I would bet this flop with a lot of my 3bet range.

Should I have fired the turn? I think if I had an A, or maybe a stronger PP I would bet the turn but decided to chk here. I figure I am only getting called again here if I'm crushed...good/bad?

I chk the river and villain decides to bet? Is he VB a ten on the river here? Does he think he is re-bluffing me as my line looks so bluffy?

I really don't beat a lot of hands but I don't see many hands in villain's range that has me beat here either?

    Thoughts?

99 tend to be in my calling range out out of the blinds versus a CO open, particular against a dude that looks like he fold to 3bets a lot. I just think we lose a lot of value by 3betting 99 against this guy. That said, I don't hate 3betting it if you are currently uncomfortable playing tricky hands like this oop, but I think playing these hands oop is definitely something worth thinking through in detail and getting used to for greater EV. Some things to think about might be villain's post-flop tendencies and his range, what your perceived range will be and consequently which boards you can check-call, which boards you can check-raise and which boards will be a routine c/f against any particular villain.

Cbet seems mandatory with initiative and half pot is fine, giving up thereafter is absolutely fine too, unless we know villain will float all Axx boards in position in 3b pots as standard (very, very unlikely until you get to 50nl+). Don't worry about villain exploting you in this particular spot either - we are behind everything he takes this line with. Put it this way, villain will check back most of his flop continuing range on the turn as you show weakness, so he likely won't see much value in betting Ax or boats and will fear a chk/raise with JJ. Once you check the river, he can comfortably bet for value and his sizing suggests exactly that.

Okay so here's a pattern that appears in almost every one of your threads. You ask questions like: Is he just taking a stab, is he value betting X, is he bluffing with missed Y, does he just think I'm f.o.s and is betting due to this. Is he trying to milk me etc etc. Stop doing this and instead try to put your opponents on a range of hands based on your best assumptions. Ask instead, is X hand in his range based on my best assumptions about this player and then look atr the situation vs the whole range of hands you've included.

I'd flat preflop. Bloating this pot oop w/ 99 vs someone who looks weak, but doesn't flat a good bit vs 3-bets is probably not optimal, though I wouldn't say really bad. Your value should mostly come postflop on the boards your hand flops well on, you're gonna be oop and not in great shape vs a continuing range that has an easier time on a lot of boards than your hand does esp when it has position. I think you can just c/f this flop especially if he's passive/non stabby with air.

Check turn always, betting is setting fire to money.

    I'd fold river.

Meh just flat pre, no need to cause yourself extra headaches in marginal spots. If you're trying to take advantage of his loose opening and seemingly high fold to 3b, just add more bluffs.
