What's a decent all-around starting stake for low-limit holdem, no limit or otherwise? Thanks

$500 at the very least. This is assuming that you play 4-5 days/wk. If you play less frequently you can start with less. Since you are asking this question I assume you are relatively new to online poker so you will probably lose some money as you go through the learning curve. I started with $700. |

You don't need anywhere near that much if you join a poker site with "penny poker".

$50 is enough for .10/.25 NL tables at pokerstars

If you know what you're doing, it should be enough for $5 SNGs on most sites as well. Even if you're completely new to the game, it should still last you a while, and long enough to get some experience.

If you are going to play micro-limit I would suggest that you just stick to "play money." It's roughly the same thing and it is free. |
