2. Bet the flop and turn harder, let them know you've got 2 pair, once you fail to do this you are right to check it down on the river.

8. River bet size is reasonable, nice for you he doesn't ruin your pot odds with his top pair on the flop.

9. Betting the flop may fold the QJ but i think the AK would have stuck around and you wouldn't be too sure where you were so the check is ok.

In 9, I'm tempted to bet a flop that probably didn't hit anyone....but it needs to be a bet that some fish with 2 overcards won't call. Bet at least 90-100% of the pot or not at all. I'd have bet it but there's really nothing wrong with checking here since you don't have position.

In 19, I have the most mixed feelings of all. AQ is a hand that is nice to see all 5 cards with if you are called (as is AK). 450 chips is also nothing to sneeze at if you buy it. But are you (as they would say in Theory of Poker) turning AQ into 72 with this play? Does only a dominating hand call you? I don't see AJ/ATs calling often here, maybe the odd JJ/TT/99.
I think I may have come in for a small standard size pre-flop raise here instead, but I'm really torn on this one.

#8 A bit surprised you called on the flop. Can bet a bit more on the river and still expect a caller.

#9 I probably would bet the flop, but sometimes I'd check to the preflop raiser as well and see what he'd do first.

I'm out of position and a big raise is 1/3+ of my stack. That leaves pushing and a stop n' go. Being suited helps with the domination problem.

That's actually faulty logic. There's 300 in blinds and 100 in antes to gain, whether you're on the button or on the SB. It doesn't matter that you're the one that put the SB into the pot, its still out there to be won. You don't have those chips anymore.

And this goes a bit against convential wisdom, but I don't think that position is all that important when you're bluffing. You preflop raise on the button, they'll 99% of the time check to you on the flop anyway whether they hit or not, you bluff and hope to win it there. From the SB, you preflop raise, then lead out and hope to take it down there. There's not much difference. Now if you hit a draw or a pair, then its different, but if your main goal is to take it down no matter what hits on the flop, I don't think the position is all that important. Calling a bet out of position would be much worse.

Plus, there's the two big advantages, that I think outway the disadvantages. Cheaper bluff, since you already have 100 in, and the big one is you only have one hand to deal with from the SB. From the button there's two players behind you, and therefore twice the chance of one of them having a big hand.

Hmm? It's not about having the best hand, its about taking a pot down that's begging to be taken. Of course you only get called by a better hand, but you'll take this pot down more often than not by making a bet. Its pretty obvious that they have nothing, and you're in the BB and have only checked once, so you easily could have a hand like two pair that either hit on the turn or you were slowplaying on the flop.

I think your limit ring game play is affecting your thought process here. You shouldn't be thinking that you have to have the best hand / draw for a bet to be profitable. If a bluff will work more often than not, especially a pot that's very big compared to your stack size, you gotta take a stab.

No, this is river play 101. If you have a hand that might win and you don't think you fold out a better hand often enough with a bet nor get a worse hand to call, you should check the river and consider a call (a worse hand might throw out a lame bluff.) Betting these situations has very little value and from a stack management perspective, I don't want to increase my investment into this weak position. Although, this play tends to apply more often when I have a small pair.

Ok, I see what you're getting at now, and yes, that is the typical way a person should play at the river. But you really think your K high is good? I don't think anyone has a pair, but someone could easily have a weak ace. And like I said, you should've bluffed at the turn, and then followed it up on the river if the button called you, not checked it down and then made a weak bet at the river.

Besides, this isn't a normal hand that's had normal action in it. Its not like you have second pair and have been betting it, but aren't sure if its good at the river and want a cheap showdown. You have K high on the turn and its pretty likely that no one will call a bet. Take it down!

Plus, I do think you can get a better hand to fold often (particularly ace high, which is the most likely better hand out there), and you certainly can't honestly be planning on calling 1/5 of your stack (min bet) with your K high if they bluff first. Finally, this is not a small pot to you, it'd nearly double you up. A board like this that's clearly missed everyone is a godsend to you.
