Daily Tourney Tip #6
Improving your game by analyzing yourself, and taking the criticism of others.
If someone were to ask me how I got to where I am in my game today, I would have to tell them it came from constantly finding my leaks and improving them, as well ass letting others see my leaks and humbly taking advice. If you are humble and honest you will improve.
First it was reading odds, and starting hand info, then this forum and realizing things like it doesn't matter what hand you have if don't know how to play it, or even how to play it post flop. Then it was analyzing my game, why did I always go out before the 2nd break? Simply because I always thought I was being bluffed. Fixed!
Now I was able to get close to the money, but I was faltering a lot. After looking at my game I realized the hands I was choosing to play, and the calls I were making were poor. I was frequently calling all ins from smaller stacks in hope to bring up my chip count, when I was lucky it was good, but I crashed hard 90% of the time. Fixed!
Now I was consistently ITM, had won 1 small qualifier on a streak of luck, but couldn't seem to post result, Well I examined my game more, took advice from here, books ect. Realized that there were many contributors to my ITM finishes, but no good results. My game again was still too loose, I withered away decent stacks on bad calls, and also identified that that the blinds were scaring the crap outta me. I fixed these, and I have a few 1st in more qualifiers, a few Final table appearances, and a whole bunch of ITM finishes.
I Consistently look at my game and how I play. I think if I can manage to get to the money a good 40% of time (more in rebuys surprisingly), and I continually keep getting shots at final tables I see nothing but money rolling in, provided I remain studious to my game and practice good bankroll management . You can do the same.
