Know a site where the HU blinds aren't retarted (button as the SB is a far better format) and the rake isn't oppressive?

Anyway, it's kinda moot because I'm otta town in like 8 hours for the middle of nowhere until Dec 1. Also, I'm not a HU specialist. I tend to leave 6 max tables when it gets down to 4 players as my pre-flop edge against most of my opponents goes into the shitter...

i dunno, wouldn't heads up limit poker be very crap shooty? and also wouldn't it take like 100 hours? after all this isn't like a tourney were blinds increase...

maybe you should try heads up sng limit style if any of the sites have it.

... and if we are going to make it NL HE H2H tourey, why don't we take Fnord completely out of his element by blindfolding him.

Hey blah blah, you are good at swimming, so I challenge you to a track race. That'll prove I'm the best!

I never understood these heads-up challenges.

Just because someone excels at a table of several players doesn't mean (nor is he claiming) that he's going to excel at a heads-up match. It's a different game when it's heads-up. And, as hypermegachi suggested, when it's one-on-one online, it's often just a crapshoot.

    What's the point?

Heads up the rake eats the hell out of you.

I thought Fnord was the mediator for the ENTIRE Limit HE forum. Shouldn't his knowledge and understanding of Limit play encompass all manner of games--whether it be full, short or HU? Also, if HU is a "crapshoot" as many of you have suggested, then why was "big game" (the 100k/200k limit game and the Bellagio) played HU? It's fine if Fnord can give you tips on how to grind it out in a low limit HE game. I guess what he was suggesting is that his "pre-flop advantage" stems from the fact that he probably plays less junk hands than his opponents. That technique wouldn't work in any game with limits higher than $10/20. He would get made for a "rock" and get NO action from anyone who has any sense of table image.

Also, if Fnord doesn't want to play HU then we can play 3 or 4 handed. He can pick the other players.

I'm just curious, that's all. I wanna' see what this guy is all about.

    No disrespect Fnord,

I challenge anyone to a pissing contest. I bet that when I'm done drinking a six-pack, I can piss longer and farther than anyone!

That's what heads up is, nothing more than a pissing contest. The "big game" has a fixed buy-in...winner take all. I suppose you could to that at 2/4 with a 100 buy in or 3/6 with 300 buy-in, but what is the point?

Heads up is nothing more than catching cards, trapping opponent with big hands and getting very lucky over the short-run. The luck factor is even larger online because you can't look your opponent in the eye and is even more dependent on hitting flops when compared to live play.

IMO, heads up takes away a large portion of the skill factor and is far more dependant on luck of the draw and is no indication of who makes a better overall player. In fact, isn't any 2 random cards like 20% against even AA (sorry, I'm not the math guy, but I have seen AA busted heads up by 72o and A2).

I recommend simply signing up for the league and see what you are made of.

Why do you want to challenge anyone to anything? And why make the challenge so formal? It seems like you are calling him out so you can proclaim yourself the king of the mountian.

We don't work like that. There is no king of this mountian. Everyone is just here to ask and give advice.

...wait. We do have a leader. Xianti, I challenge you to a moderating / administrating competition. Whoever changes the most posts, wins!

hey kidpoker your not gonna get alot of respect here calling someone out like that, especially someone with the respect fnord has here at ftr. That being said, if you want to challenge fnord, maybe you should have to beat a few ftr gatekeepers first. I'll play you heads up if you wish, limit or no limit, omaha stud, whate ver the hell you want just let me know.

So this buff guy comes to the dojo looking for training. He and the sensei spar and he beats the living crap out of the sensei, then leaves. The next day the guy returns to the dojo. The sensei is on crutches yet all of his students are still there proceeding with morining exercises. The sensei asks him "would you care to join us?"

Those who have played with me certainly wouldn't call me a rock. At many tables I'm not even the 2nd or 3rd tightest player at the table. Reasonably tight play is a pillar of winning poker. Many players at all limits choose to ignore this.

PM me your Party handle and I'll let you know if I see you around. I'm always up to playing a table with another thinking player as a change of pace.
