What do you consider when you decide to move up in limits? I think I will move up to $0.10/$0.20 when I reach $200 in my bankroll, and I believe the players there aren´t really much better than at the $0.05/$0.10 I play now. But when you get up to $0.5-$1.0 and such, I guess the adjustment must be harder. Also, do you change poker rooms when moving up in limits? I feel like I wanna move to a place where $0.5-$1.0 is the lowest stakes, as there would be more fish there than at the similar tables at a place where you can play for pennies. Am I right?

I think you're over analyzing it. The talent level at .25-.50 is just only marginally less crappy than the .01-.02. The people playing at the stakes at or aroud $1 big blind are usually just adults with full time jobs who have are playing for fun. The stakes they are playing at don't represent a sensible portion of their bankroll, it could very well be their whole bankroll. And the thing is for them, its not a devastating thing to lose $50, so they'll put their "whole bankrole" on the line.
If you know your ass from your elbow in poker (and I am pretty sure you do from reading your posts) then go up to the .10-.25 at least. You'll be able to do well there I'm willing to bet. Just give it a shot, buy in for one $15-20 session and you'll see its not that hard to clean house.

Is that a typo? If you can manage to lose say $50 on .1/.2 you'll lose money on any table you play on.

Is what a typo? I don't see anything that doesn't make sense about that quote...He's building a bankroll at low limit tables and is moving up from .05/.10 to .10/.20 when he hits his next target of $200. Seems straightforward...

I think bankroll is the biggest thing you want to consider when moving up to a higher stakes game. You want to be comfortable losing at first because that's the usual trend when moving up in stakes. Realize this and be comfortable with your BR and you will do fine. There will always be fish so don't try to over analyze the stakes you're playing at and the difficulty fo the people at the table.

Waggho, from your posts I believe you defiantly have the required skill level for the $25 dollar buy-in games, which have a .10/.25 blind structure at Stars. Playing these games with a $200 bankroll would be fine but remember to drop back down and rebuild if your bankroll drops below $100. Some people recommend having at least a 10-20 times the buyin for a bankroll but since we are talking about the bottom levels 200 would be fine. I started those games when I reached $150 and managed to make it. When you reach a $500 dollar bankroll move your money to the party skins to take advantage of all the bonuses. I hit a long patch of break even play for about a week and a half but still managed to make 400 dollars in bonuses.

From a bankroll perspective, you should be playing at a level where you will never risk more than 10% of your BR in a session.

This means that you will need to increase your BR to play the level you should be. If you have the game, then you are wasting money at the super micro limits. If you don't have the money to stake yourself, then you'll just have to grow it level by level.

Anyway, thanks for all your posts. Maybe I will give my bankroll a little boost. I have about $400 that I was going to save for the summer, I could put some of that into an account and consider it a loan (pretty nice interest with 25 % bonus).

I actually managed to lose >$50 at the .05/.1 tables in two weeks when I was trying new ways of playing, getting bored and doing fancy moves, some bad beats etc. Then I went back to my old playing style and won it all back. That doesn´t mean I´ll lose money at any table I play on. After all, $50 is just going all-in 5 times ($10 buy-in).

My first ever limit (I have played for two months) was (is) NL25$ $0.25/$0.50
and I believe you are a much more skilled player than me...

So far in Januari I'm up $76 8-)
My initial bankroll 200$
(After my first 3 weeks I was down to ~150 then it started to turn... Week 4 I was up to about ~175... And now 8-) Back in business!)

This limit shold be nemas problemas for you...
