Default A cautionary tale about AQ

A lot of players would say you're way too tight if you fold AQ at any point in this hand, but I say this is a perfect example of how AQ can get you into trouble. I generally only like to play AQ in a full ring game if I can get in the first raise.

AQ seems to me like one of those "gap" hands. I will raise with it, but I doubt that I would call with it.

Yup, Q kickers can sometimes be trouble. Obviously a Q on the flop is a better hand than if an A comes on the flop, because it is TPTK instead if an A on the flop it is TP with 2nd kicker.
    Well played.

i'd say one of my favorite hands happened just yesterday with me having aq, up against ak. I was in mp him after me, i raise on the flop, he calls. flop brings an ace. was a .20/.40 table, i had a big stack (80ish), he had 40ish, and i think there might've even been another caller and/or more raising preflop, because on the flop i know i threw out a 10-15 dollar bet. he raised, i push he calls. I see how screwed I am, and then the river brings a queen.

i really really wanted to feel bad about it, but i just couldn't. and, while true i did make a bad read on what he had, i'd probably make that call/push most times, because more often than not at the limits i'm at i'm gonna be dominating.
