Hey guys, first of all I would like to congratulate the forum and all the guys there, it helped a lot in my game and mostly to undestand my mistakes before its too late.
I just started playing hold em 1 month ago at PP after reading
"Texas holdem for advanced players" and fell in love with the game. First 3 days I made like $500 mainly at 1-2 6 max at PP. It was actually 2 8 hour sessions 2 tables at a time.
Then of course I lost it all in a week or so then some more.
Of course I know it was beginners luck, now I am breaking even/winning a little playing mainly $0.5/$1 and recently I started playing some $5 and $10 single table NL and Limit tourneys at PP. I won all the Limit ones pretty easily (too low buy-in--->>> bad players? i dont know) and won or cashed out at quite a few NL ones too). Do you think I should upper the buy in (especially at Limit) and generally what do you think is the best way to start more "serious" play at holdem? (Limit, no Limit, Tourneys etc.)

Funniest momment till now is at NL tourney shortest stack (we are 7 handed) goes all in, I call with pocket Jacks (I am pretty low on chips too and cant really afford to post another BB cause after that I won have enough chips to play properly) 4 players fold and BB calls (he is quite short-stacked too. So cards are turned face up, hold JJ, the other guy holds TT and the BB holds... the other TT!!! Lets just say nobody made a flush or straight...

My main problem is not knowing when I am beat when holding a big hand and I think thats costing me money.

Example. NL tourney I hold JT of hearts on BB 2 more players see the flop which comes sth like 9 rag rag with 2 hearts. I bet sth like 1/4 of my stack (we all have more or less the initial number of chips) 1st player in early position calls other player folds. the turn come K off. I check, he bets a small ammount which I think I did right to call (flush draw + gut shot) and his bet is small campared to the size of the pot. river is Kh I check-raise him all in he call and I lose to Ah2h....
I am trying to figure: was this just a bad beat or did I do dth wrong? Should I have bet on the turn too? Should I have check called all the way?He bet the K so when the next king comes I figure he's got trips. KK I ruled out cause he would raise even from early position I think, QQ I win JJ I win TT I win, maybe KT but i think
I should take that risk. Should I have just called? Should his "flat-call" on my strong flop bet put him on a draw? But come on A2s first after the blinds?

Anyway I apreciate any analysis on this hand and I will be coming back with many more hands soon!

    Props on the forum again.

I would have maybe just check-raised all-in on the turn. His bet seems weak and doesn't really make a lot of sense to begin with. He calls when the flop is rags, and then bets small when a king comes? It seems clear he doesn't feel he has a hand strong enough to protect against a flush at this stage (unless of course he has a made hand with a flush draw) and probably will not call. Besides, if he does call and has the best hand, you can still win the pot on the river.

Tnx, but do you think the rest of my play was good up till then?
