Flopped a four of a kind.

Hi everyone, my name is Patrick and I'm new to the board.

What would you guys do in this situation? I've given it some thought and I believe there is no real way to slowplay this hand. I called his bet almost instantly (most likely too quick). Would reraising be the correct play here? Placing a small bet after the turn?

I'm guessing he held AKd or something similar. I did not notice this at the time. What do you guys think...this probably happens like twice in a lifetime, but it's worth asking haha

Well, if you call hoping he has an overpair, the turn might scare him. If you think he's betting with AK, you've got to let him hit. After his flop bet and his turn check. I don't think there's anyway to get him to bet at you. He probably thinks you have some middle pocket pair and will crying call.

i have a question about this play: when someone raises to 5x BB ahead of you, would you always call with a low pp such as this, not knowing if there will be enough to the flop for implied odds (ie hoping to get that set) ?

generally you want 3-4 to the flop w/ low pp, in this case it was 3 but how can you really anticipate that?

Yes. I will call upwards of 10BB with a pocket pair.

Yeah I thought about that. I was multitabling and had no playable hands for what seemed like 1/2 hr. I guess it was worth a shot. At the time I'd probably call 10BB too.

I was doing some reading over at 2+2 and i heard a general guideline where you should always call a PF raise with any middle/low PP if the raise is less than 5% of your opponent's AND your own stack but never more than a 10% raise. Anything in between 5% and 10% is read dependent (ie. if your opponent is very aggressive and likely to pay off your set, then you should lean towards calling), so I believe that you should look at the raises in relation to the stacks rather than in relation to the blinds.

depending on what kind of table it is would change my decision about the low pp
