    Default Thoughts on Party Poker

I finally made the plunge into Party Poker, mostly to get the deposit bonus, but also based on what I have read here. I am primarily a limit player, so I cleared my bonus mostly by playing .50/1.00 limit.

I deposited 50 dollars and immediately hit a bad run of cards and bad beats.

    My results:
217 limit hand played, down $30.87
33 no limit hands played, up 8.30
    3 limit SNG's, up 32.00
    3 NL SNG's, down 3.00

So, I'm up a little over 8 dollars, plus I collected the 25.00 deposit bonus, for a net win of 33.00 at Party so far.

    Now, some observations:
    1. The software is ok... the game screen is too big and makes it hard to multitable, and I use a 19" monitor set at 1280. The search functions are good, and the graphics are not distracting like at Prima sites. I would also like to see preflop percentage stats.

    2. The players are not that loose. I found play there to be pretty tight pre flop in the cash games. Very seldom did I see more than 3 or 4 way action seeing the flop. At the turn it almost always dropped down to heads up action. Players at Pacific and the Prima sites are much fishier than at Party in my opinion.

    3. Why have I not seen anyone complaining about the entry fees for the SNG's and MTT's? Party and Paradise both charge double what Poker Stars and Pacific charge. 5 + .50 is a hell of a lot better than 5 + 1.00, especially if you are just a marginally winning player. Play 100 SNG's and it's an extra 50 bucks at Party. That reason alone is probably why I'm going to leave.

    4. Party's MTT"s suck, at least for me. I like 5 dollar buy in tourneys and lower, and they just don't have these.

    Just some opinions.

I have not noticed this, in fact, thats why I left Party/Empire to go to less fishier sites, such as Poker Stars. I have had no where near the number of bad beats at Stars than at Party, and thats how I would measure them.

Sometimes after getting beat on Party you have this sick feeling inside you like you got robbed.

I am planning on going back to Party/Empire to go to the 1/2 tables. So, we'll see.

I would suggest sticking to SnG's until your bank roll is larger.

Partys lowest Limit is .5/1 and to play without fear of going broke would take a bankroll of $300

    The bankroll thing.

I deposited 50 dollars, but that is not my entire poker bankroll. I have money spread out among 6 poker sites, money in firepay, and money from previous cashouts in the checking account.

I do always sit down with enough for a session, usually 20-25 dollars for .50/1.00 and 10-12 dollars for .25/.50. If I lose that, then I figure either the table is too tough for me or I'm having a bad run. Either way, I get up and take a break.

Just because someone deposits 50.00 into Party, it's not always correct to assume that that is all the money they have in the world to devote to poker.

    Have a nice day.

If you play tables where 6 players see each flop, 300 may be too small of a bankroll.

300 BB assumes a win rate of 1 BB/hour and a variance of 10 BB/hr. Routinely playing hands against more than a few opponents will tend to increase your variiance and your risk of ruin unless it also increases your win rate.

    Looks like someone is bored.

Hi I'm bored too can I play too?

I play NL25 on the Party Skins. I am a camping mofo looking to hit monster hands and then get paid off (I four table). I am up $1700 in a little under two months (bonuses and winnings combined). I had to pay $500 of that back to the guy that staked me....but my BR is up to $1200. Not bad considering I've deposited just $50 into online poker myself.

Soon starts the domination of NL50.

Why would you not deposit more than 50 bones towards your bonus then? That's like throwing away free money...

WTF??? Thanks for dragging this up fuckers.

I really didnt have much bankroll online back then, or the confidence in my play. Luckily I was able to parlay this to a real bankroll. Now I make deposit/redeposits for the max bonus.

I'll get you fuckers back for this, I swear it.

The last 6-7 times I have played TGC .5/1 tables I have bought in each table for $25 each. I play 2 tables at a time and every single time I have shown at least $15 profit from the two combined. Slow progress, yes, but I realized after I blew the first $100 on Party a long time ago that I shouldn't deposit $50 and hope to be a millionaire in a week. My point is, if you play tight enough and get paid off when you get the cards you can do well with a relatively low BR.
