    Default Flopped Boat Loser

aron80 and NJTexan had both been pretty agressive....I figured both of them for Ks when they bet. Did I play this wrong? Or just another bad beat in a long line of bad beats. Your comments on this please.

How would you have played this?

Exact same thing happened to me earlier. Just a bad beat, I guess.
  3. #3
Yea.....I'm just wondering if any of the pros on here would have played it differently.

    Default don't worry about it

you got all of your money in when he had 7 outs. good job. he just got lucky

I'm not feeling the 26 dollar re-raise all in. Obviously you were ahead, but what if he didnt call? I've had beats like this, and quite frankly, that's poker. No other way to play it. You win this like 85% of the time. You'll get him soon.

Too much reraise on the flop. You're winning; you'd like 2-3 takers. In fact I might've just called along and see if they get into it again on the turn.

    Thanks guys...appreciate the feedback.

Raise is too aggro though, you got a MMMONster so you could've got more chips with a smaller raise..

You have got to lose all your chips here. If you don't -> the sux

LeFou or Ville18.....understand what your saying regarding the all-in bet after the flop being aggressive. Here was my thinking on this:

    1) Both of the guys who raised prior to my all-in bet had been agressive. I figured one or both of them had a King to give them trips. I didn't have either one of them on quad Ks.
    2) I figured one of them would take the all-in because they wouldn't throw away the trips. I check raised so they may think I'm trying to steal the pot at which point they are going to chase.
    3) If one or both call the all-in I figure they have at the most 4 outs - 1 to hit the other K and 3 to hit their off card.

Help me understand how you would have played this. What would you have done? Do I just call their raise or make a pot size raise after them? Do I just call their raise and then make a pot size raise on the turn based on the card?

I'm figuring all my chips are going in on this hand. I'm learning and my weak part is post flop play...can you share with me how you would have played this hand rather than just saying the all in was too aggressive.

    Thanks!

    ** Dealing Turn ** [ 3c ]

This is why it may have been better to smooth call on flop - you may have had a chance to take both stacks if the other guy was on the flush draw.

If they both had been on the draw you've given them incorrect odds to call. That's good if the draw beats you, but in this case you're praying someone hits a flush.

If someone has a K you'll get their money on the turn anyway unless the flush makes it, and maybe even then.

drmcboy.....thanks for the feedback. Man.....never even considered the flush draw. I was more focused on one or both having the K. As it turns out the one guy did have the K, but I can see now what you say about the other guy maybe having the flush draw and me scaring him off with the all-in.

So from a learning standpoint I need to consider that even though I have the nuts on the flop I need to keep people around that want to draw. I've had so many bad beats lately that my reaction is to take it down right then and there. As it turned out, I did get a bad beat anyway, but I could have milked it on 4th street and maybe put both of them on bad odds.

    Thanks again.

i would raise the flop when you hit your boat..but not that big... anyone that is going to call you has a K and probably a K with an A, Q, or J kicker. this way you isolate the pot to between you and them and if a scare card comes off (like the ace on the river) you might be able to get away without loosing your whole stack...slim chance but you never know...if he fills up he might just value bet and not put you all in.

Scare card when you have the full?!?! Sorry but I'm going broke here every time unless another (presumably the case) K comes. Laying down and/or not re raising on the river can't be the play. If you smooth call and the river with and leave him with 10 bucks in his stack with K10, you're jumping out a window. Also note no raise pre flop so you can't think AK here.

This guy deserved his beat for slow playing, then for some reason the gods decided to reward instead.

You guys lost me. There was a raise by the guy who stayed of $1.50. Next guy raise another $1.50 to $3. Then I jumped in there with my all-in which most everyone has agreed was not the smarter play.

Based on the other response my play should have been to call the bet on the flop or put in a smal raise. On the turn I could either put in another raise (I'm thinking pot size or less) and then see what they do. On the river do the same thing thereby extracting more value.

But I agree with drmcboy.....all my chips are going to be in on this one.
