    Default One-on-One

    Hello Everyone!

I have a kind of beginning question, then a more in depth one for anyone who is interested....
First---is 1-on-1 also called "heads up" play, or are the two different.....

Second---How do you guys feel about 1-on-1 play? Do you practice it as an art that must be mastered? Does it help in your overall play? Any success with it?
I might be bragging a little bit, but I've been doing awfully well lately with 1-on-1, both in the end of tourneys and I've been sitting in the 1-on-1 tables some. I think it's a nuance that helps with my overall play in general, and helps me to practice since the pace is so quick that I can get A LOT of hands in (like 5 to every table hand that I am playing simultaneously).
BTW--I am still playing the PM (play money) tables as my finances are still a little hectic, but by playing tourneys and 1-on-1 more intensly than the play money rings, I feel I am getting a little more quality practice then on the maniac PM rings. I have done very well the last few days after a week of crappy play and luck.

I guess that's it for now.....Thanks in advance to anyone who responds, and I hope my messages find everyone in good circumstances!

First Question - They are the same.

    Second Question-

I feel that 1v1 tables are useful, but not to an extremely great degree. It really depends on what you like to play. If you constantly play in tournaments and it often comes down to you versus someone else, it would benefit you to practice. I feel that it has less value in a ring game or earlier on in tournaments because the style of play is different.

I would recommend that everyone practices heads up, but the extent to which it is necessary depends on your preferences.

    Not one of your questions-

Play money is completely different than real money. Becoming good at play money does not mean you will be good with real money. I would suggest depositing a little money to get started, but at the lowest limits there is still a different style of play.
One suggestion: Play in some freeroll tournaments. Often, at least later in the tournament, the quality of play increases and can help you improve. People tend to play better when money is involved.

    Thanks Copa-

Will take your advice about Freeroll under advisement. I am unsure exactly what a freeroll tournament is, but will look them up on either of the two sites I have been playing at (Bodog, Platinum)--or the new site I am experimenting with (7 Sultans). I am playing now at 7 Sultans because they give you $15 to start out with and I hope that I can start sharpening with that real money. I'm still about a week or two off from being able to deposit money due to some outstanding debts and business issues with which I am dealing (and a wife who needs a lot of crap)!

    Thanks for your time!
