    Default Got P0wnt

So, entered a 30/3 SNG(2 table) on Stars today...and it was an expereince.

It started off fine.... blinds are small, one "maniac" (who I think was probably a pretty good player) almost busted out then built up his stack. I am just watching mostly - bluffing at pots on the flop. I don't get mixed up at all. Then with like 5 left on first table, everything got quiet... TOO quiet.

No one would call anything - and the binds are like 50/100 continui9ng up though 100/200. A few people bust out, and we go down to the last 9, and still - ANY raise wins the blinds.

So, I am confused. I am stealing my share or more, but I am wondering how to actually double up without getting AA/KK... I get AJs UTG and push it just to see ... no callers. I get AK early, and push it -- no callers.

I think the proper move at this point is to keep stealing, and then countersteal - i.e., if you have something unlikely to be dominated, and someone raises - re-raise and try to catch them stealing. As the blinds go up, these become all-in steals... anyway...That's NOT what I did.

I decided to be cute, and limped AJ and then AK looking to steal post flop if I miss - but was heavily bet into on blank flops.

So, facing a raiise and a call (something worth stealing!) I push AJ from the SB, get called by BB (who had not acted) and original raiser - both with AQ.

I tried to convince myself that I made a play and got beat, BUT I think I just flat out didn't understand the table. AJ is a stupid hand to go all in with - callers (other that short or much larget stacks) will most likley dominate you. 74 is better. Even a small pocket is only a coin flip...

Anyway - what is the proper way to play against a table where no one calls... just wait until the blinds get high and push-steal?

In my opinion I would not want to push all in with AJ (preflop) especially when there were previous raises, and a call, because your being beat by the major raising hands, AA KK AK any pocket. I just don't think its worth the blinds unless your really short stacked.

Of course it's worth the blinds, anything's worth the blinds in SnGs!

What I see here is a very tight/weak table, you should be pumping out frequent 3xBB blind steal raises here (and you should have done this with the AJo hand) and if you are reraised you can get out of the hand - knowing that these tight/weak schmos have a monster.

    It's all about leverage.

Is it worth being knocked out for the blinds?

No, hence the 3xBB raise rule as mentioned in my above post.

Pushing all in to steal blinds is a dangerous prospect if you ask me. Yes you are more likely to steal the blinds as people are less likely to call. The problem is that when people do call you're most likely beat because you were just stealing and you lose your stack. I would suggest a good sized overbet. That way it's probably still enough to steal blinds at a tight table, but when you do run into a good hand they call your bet and you can fold if you miss and stay alive in the tourney. Pushing puts yourself in danger.
