Bigger bet on the flop?

$8k Guaranteed Sunday MTT on AP, final table. Opinions welcome.

1) I think my bet on the flop was a little weak, but the King bothered me. I don't think he calls if I up my bet 3-4x more. Maybe a push, but if I'm betting into his King...
2) I should have checked the turn to see what his action would have been, but I think I was a little over-excited with 2 pair.
3) And dammit, if he raises that preflop, I'm not even in the hand. Several times earlier, I had pushed with 88, 99, and 66, and no one called because the next person out makes the next payout level.

Bet more on the flop, I'd bet out at around the pot. Nothing you can do about that on the turn though.
