Default Profitability of 20 player tourneys over 10 player

Pacific pokers $10 tourneys are my norm and im ITM about 50% of what I play....60% third place, 20% first and 10% 2nd...

They also have 20 player tourneys that have 3rd place payout that the 3rd place payout is 4x the buyin, instead of the 2x that the 10 players pay...

Anyone feel its more profitable to play the slightly larger tourney because even 3rd place scores a very nice payout?

    Default yes indeed

its without a dout a better deal overall. They take longer to play and there is a higher amount of risk but from the people i talk to say they are not much more difficult. Not to mention the great experience you get playing a MTT. Combine playing both, you can only lose your buy in so give them a shot.

I just had someone ask me about this. I told him that you have to have more patience in a 2 table game. Alot of people take their single table gun and run game to 2 or 3 tables and get the worst of it. The payout's better but it is a slower game with more hands played Not shorthanded like Single tables. When you get to the final 5 you'll be playing against better players generally than the final 5 of a single table.

The good news you get more time to get quality hands. The bad new is so does everyone else, so play quality for value.

Depending on my mood I'll play single table or 3 table sng's. If I'm feeling relaxed and patient I'll go 3 table. If you're in a hurry you'll probably not do as well as single.

I like single tables alot more since I am very impatient. Especially on party skins, I prefer to play single tables over multiple tables.

    Reasons being:
    1) Blinds on single tables raise every 9 hands, meaning bigger action faster while blinds on multiple tables raise like every 15 minutes or something. So for the first 45 minutes, it's pretty dull usually. At least for me.

    2) The prize pool of a multiple table is obviously bigger and more people get to place ITM. However, I play to win, not to place ITM. So I prefer single table because first place gets half the prize pool, while in multiple tables, you only get a percentage if you come in first, which isn't worth it IMO for the amount of time you have to invest. The only exception to this is the huge MTTs where you get a huge prize if you come in first, and also the glory.

I'm off Pacific for the time being....working a couple other sites right now. The $16+1.60 2-table SnGs have been and will continue to be in the future a huge money maker for me. You just have to be more patient at Pacific a really pick your spots carefully....there are a multitude of fish players in that game that can and will suck out on you. I typically hang back until we are down to 1 table or close to it - picking up a few pots along the way but consciously avoing getting all the chips in the middle until the poor players are weeded out. If you have a good short handed game you can easily overcome and chip defict you may have one the play get down to 5-7 people. I love the payout in the 2-tables there....they only pay top 3 people so ROI is very high.

I like these games too - $160 for 1st place is a nice return in my book
Really makes it worth going for 1st rather than just ITM. although I'll also play their $8+.80 2-table games that pay out top 5 if I'm not feeling so confident about my game.

The nice thing about the 2 table SnGs is you can make better ROIs with lower ITM %. So far for feb, I am 28% ITM but have 61% ROI on the $8+.80 and $16+1.6 2 table games at Pacific.
