while 5$ PP sngs are easy, they do have 20% rake which cuts your ROI by 10% so you should move up asap

Not that I am questioning your skill level, but 20 sngs is very small sample size to determine how well you are actaully doing. you need at least 300 sngs to determine how well you are doing.

gl, hopefully I can move up a few buyin soon...

if you can consistently get ITM on PP, the $5 there are better than stars despite the rake because they are 10 handed. moving up is the best thing you can do when you get the BR.

heres a thread I made on PP v PS $5 sngs (it seems relevant): http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...pic.php?t=5549

Every time I try to post a pic on FTR using the img command, or post a link to a picture for that matter, I get a page that looks like a 'This Page Cannot Be Displayed' page, but it has the following message:

I've discovered about myself that I actually can't play single table SnG's. I am a solid ring game player and an excellent live tournament player, but for some reason SnG's bore me to tears and I almost always end up exiting early when I get way too aggressive on the wrong hand. It's strange - with my skill I should dominate those games, but I just can't focus when I get involved in them.

I think a big part of the problem is that the ring games I play can so often pay off $20, $40, even $80 on a hand - and it takes an hour of work to make that on a $10 SnG, assuming you place ITM. The better I get at cash games, the less I can really care about the winner-take-all, everyone-all-in-all-the-time SnG format. I guess if I were on the bigger buy-in ones I would like them more, but then I'd just be more annoyed if I bubbled out after 45 minutes.

So far I've turned $50 into $80 on Party...

My question to you, Dwarfie...what's your strategy like? Personally, I don't play very many hands during the first 2-3 levels. If I play early I'm playing for cheap and hoping to flop a monster. I hate raising early because a $100 bet could scare everyone off, or you might get 4-7 callers with that bet (I don't want AA or KK to see a flop with five other people involved, generally).

Anyway...just curious here. I was going to write a big post comparing Party Poker to PokerStars, but haven't gotten around to it. PP seems a *lot* easier to me, but it also seems a lot less like poker than PokerStars.

Plus, one thing I've noticed...PP starts everyone out with 800 chips. I hate that. By the time you get to level four or five, if you pump out a 4 X's BB bet you could be risking one-fourth or one-fifth of your stack, and unless you flop something, you might be in a world of hurt after the hands over.

No problem with my browser, my computer is running hotter than jmrogers' avatar.

I'm curious to your early strat as well. I've been getting beat up in these lately. I play tight early when there's always 5-7 limpers, because it seems even a big raise (5-6BB) gets 2-3 callers. So I try to wait for lvl 4 or so to get aggresive, but if I haven't caught a monster by then, I'm down in chips, and then one person catches (either the cards or a steal), and its over.

It's true that you can't use .bmp files with the [img] tags. Try it with a .jpg and let us know if that still doesn't work.

i AGREE 100% with you. At pokerstars is just for SnGs and tourneys Empire and PP I do ring only with some sng.

I was doing very well in $5 SitNGo's on PP/Empire too. Then I moved up to $10 when somebody mentioned the rake was too high and the competition isn't much different. Those tournaments have better players and are more difficult. I had to adjust my aggressiveness lower (until ITM) to compete. One bad call and you really can't recover like you can in the $5. It might be worth it to stay at $5 until you can consistently place in the top 2 spots - even with the larger rake.

I would say at $5, 30% good or better players and 30% average players and 40% poor players.
At $10, it's 50% good or better players and 30% average players and 20% poor players.

OK I'm now bankrolled for $10 SnGs.

So I've gone from $60 to $202 in 4 and a half days, they are easy.

    Here's my chart by session:
