    Default Early Tournament Strat Idea

Let's say that you trapped someone, or for any reason (other than a bluff) you're about to put someone all in. Would it be wise to allow them to save 1 chip (put them ALMOST all-in)?

Reasoning: Early in the tournament, or really any time except very late, you want as much info as you can on other players. By allowing the person 1 chip, that forces at least one extra showdown and you will be able to see how people play a hand which could be worth while.

personally i just dont see how it's worth it.

as a super short stack you will not really learn anything about him on the hand (whats his choices? .. he could go all in, or hmm... oh, he could go all in.)

your not going to get an extra hand because he is there..

Hmm, i do see something though, there WILL be a showdown if he is in the hand... so you would see another showdown (probally)

But on the other hand, i know i've came back from a really really low stack before..

But as a friend of mine says...

"A chip and a chair... Thats all you need to win."

    Kick him out.

How are you going to feel if he kicks you out later.

    Q. Is poker Gambling?
    A. Do you use correct bankroll management?

I am not sure if i made it clear. You're not interested in the person that you left one chip. Your interested in the other players.

    Example:

Players A is small blind and goes all in with the 1 chip he has.
Player B posts big blind for 20 chips.
    Player C bets 150 chips.
    Players B, D, E, F fold.

    Community: (Doesn't matter)

    Player A shows
Player C shows :Ac: and wins with ace high.

You get a free look at what Player C raises UTG with (Axo).

This is just one possible scenerio where would be helpful.

    Nice idea, but two points:

    1. Its gonna be very hard to do as if your raised for almost all your chips except one, your just gonna re raise back all in.

    2. They could come back. Even if not, without antes its possible they force you otm if they can survive their blinds.

Happened in a sti n go the other night. One guy had 820 and bet 800 on the river and the other guys just called. I asked him why he kept 20 when the big blind was 100....

    He said every chip counts...

I saw one guy go down to 10 in a sitngo. He came back to over 400 chips by getting many callers on his AI's when he had good hands. I was one of those fools. I had a huge chip lead though. He finally lost his 400 chips though. It was amazing to see such a comeback.

I was watching celebrity poker (I know, I know) a couple weeks ago, and someone was down to his last chip ($100 of $50k on the table). He doubled, then tripled three times in a row, back to $5400, then worked it back up to $8200 before going out. It was quite a run.

Our very own dwarfman went from 1/4 the blinds (basically one chip) to winning a tournament. Do a search for comeback.

Nobody in their right mind who is going to call is going to leave themselves with the one chip, unless they really think it's funny.
