    Default pocket kings...

I ended up finishing 4th in this SnG. This is pretty much the hand that broke me. I had only actually gone to showdown twice, once with AQ (TPTK), once with AA.

Seat 2: nykronx ($1,660 in chips)
Seat 3: USS St Louis ($3,900 in chips)
Seat 4: --Jay ($935 in chips)
Seat 5: Pi Epsilon ($3,135 in chips)
    Seat 7: cubbiegal5 ($2,305 in chips)
    Seat 8: staresy [KD,KH] ($3,065 in chips)

    ANTES/BLINDS
nykronx posts blind ($25), USS St Louis posts blind ($50).

    PRE-FLOP
--Jay folds, Pi Epsilon folds, cubbiegal5 calls $50, staresy bets $250, nykronx folds, USS St Louis folds, cubbiegal5 calls $200.

    FLOP [board cards 3C,9S,8C ]
    cubbiegal5 checks, staresy bets $650, cubbiegal5 calls $650.

    TURN [board cards 3C,9S,8C,JD ]
    cubbiegal5 checks, staresy bets $1,405, cubbiegal5 calls $1,405 and is all-in.

    RIVER [board cards 3C,9S,8C,JD,3D ]

    SHOWDOWN
    staresy shows [ KD,KH ]
    cubbiegal5 shows [ 10H,QD ]
    cubbiegal5 wins $4,685.

Did I play it too fast? Should I have read him for this?

    How about this one?...

Seat 1: Deep Blue ($2,680 in chips)
    Seat 2: AK13 ($1,700 in chips)
Seat 3: PokerChampX ($1,295 in chips)

Seat 5: goomball ($1,505 in chips)
Seat 6: GarthD ($1,215 in chips)
    Seat 7: malas36 ($1,365 in chips)
Seat 8: Yum Man ($2,765 in chips)
    Seat 9: Mixter18 ($1,080 in chips)

    ANTES/BLINDS
Mixter18 posts blind ($15), Deep Blue posts blind ($30).

    PRE-FLOP
AK13 calls $30, PokerChampX folds, staresy bets $130, goomball folds, GarthD folds, malas36 folds, Yum Man calls $130, Mixter18 folds, Deep Blue calls $100, AK13 calls $100.

    FLOP [board cards 4D,JH,8H ]
Deep Blue checks, AK13 checks, staresy bets $700, Yum Man folds, Deep Blue calls $700, AK13 folds.

    TURN [board cards 4D,JH,8H,2S ]
Deep Blue bets $500, staresy bets $565 and is all-in, Deep Blue calls $65.

    RIVER [board cards 4D,JH,8H,2S,7H ]

    SHOWDOWN
    staresy shows [ KC,KS ]
    Deep Blue shows [ 10H,QH ]
    Deep Blue wins $3,065.

I guess I am looking for some advice on how I played or some solace that, given I only really play at $5 level at the moment, this is just what I have to expect?

If potting the flop is going to put in 1/3 or more of the money behind in the pot (tieing you to showdown), you should seriously consider pushing or betting less instead. Also, in an Tourney situation surving the hand is more important than getting the maximum value out of your hand (with greater risk.)

    But I'm just nit picking...

He is throwing out a 5x BB raise in the first one, and about that in the second one. People are calling him down with q10. Don't even try me Fnord...

It's a wonderful thing. It's plays like that which make these games so damn profitable.

I agree, but damn it seems that some people always pull the strange outs. In a SnG last night there was a guy that could do no wrong. The table has been going for 30+ hands, the 'Do No Wrong' guy has about 35% of the total chips with 7 people still in. A tight player (VP$IP = 18%) cuts loose with a monstrous PF raise. Everyone bails but Mr. 'Do No Wrong' who calls. The flop comes K66, tight player pushes the rest and is called by Mr. DNW. Tight player has AA . . . Mr. DNW has K6. He eventually busted me out in similar fashion. I was short stacked with 5 people left and was dealt TT. I had about 8BB left to my name so I felt this was a push or fold. I pushed, Mr. DNW calls with 65 (not even suited), flop comes 65x. It was just an amazing thing to watch. Here was a guy with a PT tracked VP$IP of over 50%, a Went to SD of 75% and a Won $ a SD of 86%.

Nice if he can keep it up. I wonder who he prays to.

^^^^^^^ Ouch i fully understand the frustration and Awe of DNW.... i had a similar experience last fri at my local casino....let's just say i walked out of there up $1328 playing 1,2 $100 max no-limit... I played a little better hands than he did but i could not go wrong and i alwyas had the strongest hands on flop and would call people on chase and they just would not catch..... i normally lose to people who chase and force me to call there big bet on the flops usually to flush draws... so i believe everyone will experience this at one point in their poker lives it is a beautiful thing to experience too!!
