    Default Home game alterations

Hi, i often play home games, but i dont do as well in them as i do on the internet. there are usually about 6 players, and we start off with around 600-700 chips, blinds at 25-50, and going up every 6th hand. the players are all pretty average, one maniac, one very tight player, one decent player. I usually play tight aggressive, but the problem is, all it needs is one loss at a showdown and im down to 4x BB, and its extremely difficult to play then, is there any way to modify my strategy (tight aggressive - play any 2 face cards, suited connectors, PP's) bearing in mind, most of the other players will call if they have anything of the flop, so bluffing isnt that profitable.

    thanks.

The problem, I think, might be the blind dtructure. If there's only 700 in chips, and the BB is 50, every player only has 14 BB. That's not going to stay a poker game very long, it's going to become a crap shoot. Try talking them into moving to 5-10 blinds, and see if that changes the dynamic at all?

not much strategy in such crappy crapshoot format than to go allin with any decent hand like K8s~KQo etc when blinds move up to 50/100

try using chip values, we used to do 80 chips each with 1/2 blinds but blinds got pretty bad when we were in 4~8 level and it didn't allow many ppl to play at once. now we do 1000 to begin with, everyone gets something like 40ish in chips and it allows for much better blind structure.

    we do 5/10 10/20 20/40 30/60 40/80 50/100 100/200 150/300

Sheesh. I didn't even notice the 6 hand blind raises.

My man... you're not playing Poker. You guys are just trying to hit the lottery. Slow down. You guys got a hot date or something?

Not nearly enough chips. We have 10 guys with 10,000 in chips. Blinds start at 100/200. The better players will win most of the time when you start with a lot of chips. With the stack you start out with it seems that the winner would be decided by coin flips.
-It seemed like a good idea at the time-
